maybe u can say how everyone thinks their own country is the best but we are actually all one nation
and then put Islam into it saying that God made us into different tribes so we may know one another
also something my friend told me.. that if u look at the Earth from a birds eye view, there are no borders.. so we are all one..
Patriotism is dangerous and results in wars and instead of people being divided because of their race they should use their differences to teach each other and try each other's tasty foods
i don't know what exactly you want to write about nationalism but that's what i came up with

What class is it for?
If its for say, International politics you would look at it from hostorical perspectives, be it Nazi Germany, or even Dubcek in Czechoslovakia.
If its for an islamic class, you'd look at it obviously from what the Prophet Sallallaahu `Alayhi wa Sallaam has said on the matter...
So what class is it for?

well after submitting the report do paste an executive summary here....
Nationalism is good and bad just like anyother system in the world. It is how accountable the system is in the end that matters. For example, 80 % of a democratic system can wrongly impose a war on another country,...So we can't just say democracy failed, but the accountability was not there to begin with.
Nationalism as I know is the service for state by all and sundry, in return state will try to take care of its people. On paper it is very good system. From my experience in 1970's Bhutto , the prime minister of pakistan introduced nationalism. He bought off all the indutry including transport and limited the amount of land a person can have. He was of the view state will be more effeciently run if it will be under single control.. How wrong was he! that after 30 years whatever nationalism he had done had to be reveresed... to make the system sustainable. All the big government owned industries are running in loss and becoming white elephents for the tax payers ( who donot exist in reality but on paper they do!) of Pakistan.
The failure of nationalism in pakistan was the corruption at all level of governemt and no accountability of any sort. Plus a mrymid of other factors...
I think Nationalism puts the nation's interest in front of people even before religion, it is good to incite the feeling of patriotism in people. It is generally preceived good for the national health but might not bring prosperity to people of a nation. All this can be changed if run effeciantily with check and balance.
By writing this long and useless jibberish before afteri, I think I should read some good books on general political systems....
G/l with the assign.
