lol

well i try to avoid nestle, rarely if ever buy it, and i'd discourage others to do so, but its not haram, so its really a decision each person can make for themselves.

Actually a lot of non-muslims boycott nestle too for some immoral stuff they did with some 3rd world countries, apparently they supplied them with enough free formula to dry the milk up, and then charged them more than they could affort. Plus formula really isnt the best for these people (well its not the best for anybody) but its REALLY not the best for them as they dont always have the ideal conditions for sterilising etc.

I can't say i knew about the 3rd world nestle stuff, but i never buy it anyway for another reason.
Cadbury and Nestle are right next to eachother in the shops so its not hard to make that choice, plus cadbury is creamier :)

Assalamu alaikum,

But has anyone noticed that the new Cadbury packaging of their chocolates don't have the halal certification on it anymore??? I love the stuff and am a chocolate lover, but have noticed this lately and wondered why the new packaging doesn't contain the certification.

I just bought some with the new packaging, and it definitely has the Halal symbol .... I'm lookin at it right now .... and yup, its still there :)

But I did notice when i was at the supermarket, that not all of the different varieties have it. Eg, Turkish Delight doesnt, but Roast Almond does

isn't most chocolate halal though? If u check the ingredients on the bak and make sure there isn't anything that we can't have, that should be ok yeh?

Assalamu alaikum,

Najah, depends who you ask. They can use the same machines to make certain things so you may have chocolates made on the same machines that process chocolates with alcohol or gelatine in them and some people would argue that is no longer halal.

Personally I am just into checking ingredients but I know there are others who aren't.

I am not sure what the majority opinion is.

And Neo, are you sure the new foil type packaging has the halal certification on it? Have they changed the place where they put it 'cause it used to be next to the ingredients but it isn't there any more. I have checked recently on Snack, Top Deck and Dairy Milk and none of them had it, but previously they all did.

Rachel

Assalamu alaikum,

It has the halal sign in Arabic in a circle with the name of the board on it.

I swear my chocolate in those new foil packets doesn't have it any more!

Assalam alaikum,

What I want to know is how come some of Cadbury's stuff has halal gelatine and is certified halal and others use non-halal gelatine? If they don't have halal on back I don't buy them anymore and yes some packaging doesn't have it. Like some multipacks don't, but the actual bar does. Also some are on halal list but no halal symbol on packaging.

Assalamu alaikum,

Exactly. I spent a minute or two in the supermarket today checking half the packets. Ones that previously had the halal certification no longer have it on - such as Snack and Top Deck - but a couple still had it on such as Dairy Milk and Dream. Does that mean they are no longer halal?

Anyone verified this?

Rachel

Assalam alaikum,

Snack halal, oh yes please. I stopped eating it as no halal sign.

Assalamu alaikum,

I know Snack was only given the certification for a very, very short time. I stopped eating it too and then found the certification on it so hopped into it for a while. But it is no longer halal.

Anyway, just called Cadbury and had a very helpful lady check everything for me. She said that the website info is up to date on what is halal and what is not. It is more up to date than the new packaging.
