"No one should be treated in the way they are treated in Cuba. The Americans, how they are treating people, they are terrorists. They have no humanity."
(Mamdouh Habib, former Guantanamo detainee)

Prison Governor Threatens To Kill British Men
The three British men: Maajid Nawaz (27 married with one child), Ian Nisbet (30 married with one child) and Reza Pankhurst (30, married with two children) who were arrested, tortured and eventually charged and sentenced to 5 years [for carrying peaceful political thoughts] have been threatened by the Prison Authorities with death!

Prisoners Hisham Diab, Ian Nisbet have been locked in solitary confinement, no lights, no toilet, no fans (at a temperature of) more than 40 degrees C [for simply disputing with an officer]

Hisham Diab was attacked by several officers beaten on head with a belt, punched, kicked, by the [Rais al Mabahith] Head of Investigations. A Doctor has confirmed last night he has 5 broken ribs [3 on the left, 2 on the right] and a suspected broken arm, and should be taken for x- rays immediately. The prison is refusing!

The Head of Prison said that the British Government was consulted and consented to the placing of Ian Nisbet in the illegal conditions which are against (all standards of) Human Rights.

The head of prison threatened Mr Nawaz with death if he tried to interfere or raise escalate issue & told him "Killing prisoners is not a crime in Egypt".

This complaint was said in front of several officers under his command, so it is NOT safe in this prison.

They also threatened to send (arrange for) criminals [murderers etc] to fight and stab us (etc).

As a result of these threats and beatings the men and many other prisoners are on a group hunger strike.

The situation is dire. Click here to read more about the case and what you can do to help (http://www.cageprisoners.com/campaigns.php?id=176)

British Detainee in Iraq Injured, Rights Denied
British Muslim detained in Iraq, Mobeen Muneef, has been shot in the back and moved, within the Bucca detention facility, to Camp 6: the "punishment" camp. He has not received medical treatment, and has been denied access to the Red Cross, his family, and to his writing and reading materials. He could face transfer to the notorious Abu Ghraib.

Read the summary of the last consular visit to Mobeen in May.

Interviews

Interview with Julian Hayes (http://www.cageprisoners.com/articles.php?id=8294)
Julian Hayes is the founding partner of Hayes, Burcombe and Co solicitors and a highly experienced criminal lawyer. He specialises in serious crime and childcare matters. He recently representated Sidali Feddag, the youngest of those charged and acquitted in the so-called Ricin plot. In this interview with Cageprisoners.com, Julian Hayes exposes the truth behind this case, which has, from the start, been hugely exaggerated and used for political ends. He also highlights the Government's plans to deport the men, in spite of being exonerated, to countries where they will most certainly be tortured.

Four Muslim MPs have been voted in as part of the Labour government. What is the point of voting for the Muslim MPs, if they are not able to stand up for the Muslim community correctly over issues that are obviously affecting them so greatly? What is the point of keeping these Muslim MPs when they cannot deal with a situation like that of Babar’s which is so clear cut?

Alongside the Extradition Treaty, is the Extradition Act. There may be some safeguards within the act that lawyers can turn to in order to provide a bar to extradition and stem the one way traffic to the US.

‘Extradition Independence from the USA’ Public Meeting at the House of Commons - Gareth Pierce (http://www.cageprisoners.com/download.php?download=211)
Babar Ahmad’s extradition is a shortcut around safeguards. It is not a time for shortcuts. By allowing Babar to be extradited, we acquiesce all of the human rights abuses by America around the world. The US conscience is found within its constitution, they have completely lost their way, the UK government and judiciary should not follow suit.

‘Extradition Independence from the USA’ Public Meeting at the House of Commons - Yvonne Ridley (http://www.cageprisoners.com/download.php?download=210)
There are many prisoners who have been incarcerated for many years without trial. One example is Rachid Ramda who has spent to last ten years without any kind of trial being allowed. With all the extraditions that are taking place, what is even more worrying is the kind of atrocities they will be subjected to once they arrive at their place of extradition.

‘Extradition Independence from the USA’ Public Meeting at the House of Commons - Sadiq Khan (http://www.cageprisoners.com/download.php?download=209)
The main issue at hand is that a foreign government is trying to claim jurisdiction over a UK citizen. What the Early Day Motion helps to do, is to crystallise what it is that needs to be tackled.

‘Extradition Independence from the USA’ Public Meeting at the House of Commons - Lord Goodhart (http://www.cageprisoners.com/download.php?download=208)
The Liberal Democrats have taken very strong issue with these cases. They have always been against the Labour government’s policy on extradition.

‘Extradition Independence from the USA’ Public Meeting at the House of Commons - Boris Johnson (http://www.cageprisoners.com/download.php?download=207)
There are serious injustices taking place which not only apply to the Enron 3 but also Babar Ahmad. All of those facing extradition are being done so despite being accused of crimes that took place in the United Kingdom contrary to UK law.
