"He (Jesus) will descend close to the white minaret to the east of Damascus. He will be wearing two garments lightly colored with saffron having his hands on the wings of two angels. Whenever he lowers his head, drops will fall off of it. Whenever he raises his head, precious jewels like pearls will fall off of t. No disbeliever can survive Isa's breath, and his breath reaches the distance of his sight." Muslim 4:2250

    Surah At-Takathur

1.The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you,
2.Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die).
3.Nay! You shall come to know!
4.Again, Nay! You shall come to know!
5.Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things)
6.Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)!
7.And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight!
8.Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)!

Narrated Samurah bin Jundub Radiallahu anha: Allah's Messenger said. "Tonight two (visitors) came to me (in my dream) and took me to a town built with gold bricks and silver bricks. There, we met men who, (by) half of their bodies looked like the most handsome human beings you have ever seen, and (by) the other half, the ugliest human beings you have ever seen, Those two visitors said to those men: 'Go and dip yourselves in that river.' So they dipped themselves therein and then came to us, their ugliness having disappeared and they were in the most handsome shape. The visitors said, 'This is the 'Adn Paradise, and that is your dwelling place.; Then they added, 'As for those people who were half ugly and half handsome, they were those who have mixed deeds that were good with deeds that were evil, but Allah forgave them.' [Sahih Al-Bukhari, vol 6, Hadith No.196]

The Prophet said “The dunya is home for the one who has no home, and wealth for the one who has no wealth, Only the one who has no intellect gathers for it; only the one who has no comprehension acts according to its desires; only the one who has no knowledge will be punished for it; only the one who has no intellect will become jealous for it; and only the one who has no conviction strives for it.”

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): Allah's Messenger
said, "The example of a believer is that of a fresh tender plant; from whatever direction the wind comes, it bends it, but when the wind becomes quiet, it becomes straight again. Similarly, a believer is afflicted with calamities (but he remains patient till Allah removes his difficulties.) And an impious wicked person is like a pine tree which keeps hard and straight till Allah cuts (breaks) it down when He wishes." [Bukhari, Book 7, Volume 70, Hadith 547]

Abû Mûsâ al-Ash‘arî said: The Prophet said:

“When a child of a man dies, Allâh asks the angels, ‘Did you take the soul of My slave’s child?’ They reply, ‘Yes.’ He asks them, ‘Did you take away the apple of his eye?’, and they reply, ‘Yes.’ Then He asks: ‘What did My slave say?’ They tell Him: ‘He praised You and said: “To Allâh we belong and to Him is our return.” ’ Allâh says: ‘Build a house for him in Paradise and call it Bait al-hamd (the house of praise)’.” [At-Tirmidhî, Ahmad and Ibn Hibbân]

I know subhanAllah, Allah is so gracious. Going through the pain of loosing a family member (especially if it's your child) is hard to bare but we all know we belong to Him and we're going to return to Him when He wills. May Allah keep us steadfast when facing such a trial, ameen.

"Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people, and what Allah has sent down from the heavens of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature, and [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and the earth are signs for a people who use reason." *Surah Bakara Ayah 164*

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Shake hands, for this will dispel rancour, and exchange gifts and love one another, for this will dispel hatred.” (Narrated by Maalik in al-Muwatta', 1413).

“There has come to you the disease of the nations before you, jealousy and hatred. This is the ‘shaver' (destroyer); I do not say that it shaves hair, but that it shaves (destroys) faith. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not tell you of that which will strengthen love between you? Spread (the greeting of) salaam amongst yourselves.” (A hasan hadeeth. Jaami' al-Tirmidhi, 2434).

    Sign of Faith

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Ka`b ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,

The parable of a believer is that of a fresh and moist plant; the wind tilts it this way and that way; and so is the believer; he continues to be subject to affliction. And the parable of a hypocrite is that of a firm cedar tree; it does not shake—until it is uprooted all at once.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Once, a few men came to Abu ad-Darda' while he was in the mosque, saying to him: "O Abu ad-Darda'! Your house has been burned down!" He replied: "By Allah, it has not been burned down." They said: "It has been burned down!" He replied: "By Allah, it has not been burned down." They went to see that the fire had consumed everything in the area, and had stopped right at Abu ad-Darda''s house, and he did not even get up to go see for himself. They came back and asked him: "What drove you to insist that it had not been burned down?" He replied: "The Messenger of Allah had taught me some words that, if I say them, I will not be stricken with any harm," - he is secure! - "'O Allah, I seek refuge with You from sadness and grief, and I seek refuge with You from inability and laziness, and I seek refuge with You from cowardliness and stinginess, and I seek refuge with You from being overpowered by debts and men,' so, I made this supplication."

In regards to this same supplication, Abu Umamah narrated: "I was sitting in the mosque, when the Messenger of Allah asked me: "What is wrong, Abu Umamah?" I replied: "I am in distress because of a debt that I owe." The Prophet then told me: "Supplicate with these words ('O Allah, I seek refuge with You from sadness and grief...')." So, I supplicated with these words, and Allah removed my distress, and paid off my debt."

Narrated byAbdullah ibn Mas'ud, Allah's Messenger drew a line for us and then said: That is the path shown by Allah. Then he drew several other lines on his right and left sides and said: These are the paths on every side of which there is a devil calling towards it. He then recited this verse: Verily this path of Mine is straight so adhere it.' (5:167) Al-Tirmidhi Hadith

Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘My Lord came to me tonight in the most beautiful form.’ I think he said, ‘in a dream. He said, "O Muhammad, do you know what the chiefs on high disputed about?" I said, "No." He put His hand between my shoulder-blades and I could feel its coolness on my chest (or just beneath my throat), then I knew everything that is in the heavens and on earth. He said, "O Muhammad, do you know what the chiefs on high disputed about?" I said, "Yes." He said, "About expiation, and expiation is staying in the mosque after prayers, walking to join congregational prayers, and doing wudoo’ properly in adverse conditions. Whoever does that will live a good life and die a good death, and will be as sinless as the day his mother bore him." He said, "O Muhammad, when you pray, say Allaahumma innee as’aluka fa’l al-khayraat wa tark al-munkaraat wa hubb al-masaakeen, wa idha aradta bi ‘ibaadika fitnatan fa’qbudni ilayka ghayra maftoon (O Allaah, I ask you to make me do good deeds and avoid evil deeds, and to make me love the poor and wretched. If You want to test Your slaves, then take me unto You without subjecting me to the trial). One’s status in Paradise may be raised by spreading the greeting of salaam, feeding others, and praying at night when people are sleeping."’" (Reported by Imam Ahmad, 16026; and by al-Tirmidhi, 3159, who said it is a saheeh hasan hadeeth).

A hadith which indicates the importance of the husband is that of Abu Saeed Al Khudri (RA); he said: "A man brought his daughter to the Prophet SAW and said: 'My daughter has refused to get married.' The Prophet SAW said: "Obey your father." The girl then said: 'I swear by Allah, I will not get married until you tell me the rights of the husband over his wife.' The Prophet SAW replied: "The right of the husband over his wife is that even if there is a wound in his body and she licks it, or if his nostrils drip mucus and blood and then she swallows them, she will still never pay her husband his due." The girl said: 'I swear by Allah that I will never get married.' The Prophet SAW said: 'Do not marry her except by her permission.'"

Transmitted by Al-Bazzaar and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih.

Excerpt from the book, Winning the heart of your husband.

It talks about true men. There are not many true men out there (the pious, strong believer) and how it relates to camels is because not all camels are suitable to ride. There are so many camels out there, but probably only a few that are good to ride. This is because most camels get angry easily.

This lecture by Tawfique Chowdhury speaks about "Once we were men" and quotes the camel hadith in it too.
