“Do not lose hope
in the acceptance of an act of yours
wherin you found no awareness of the divine Presence.
Sometimes He accepts an act
the fruit of which you have not perceived right away.”
” A sign of the death of the heart: lack of sadness about beneficial
actions you have missed, and lack of regret about your mistakes.
Do not become so overwhelmed by your wrong action that it stops you
thinking well of Allah. Whoever has gnosis of his Lord, finds that
his wrong action is insignificant beside His generosity.
There is no minor wrong action when you face His justice. There is
no major wrong action when you experience His bounty. No deed has
more hope of being accepted than the one you do and forget about,
thinking it insignificant.”
From the Hikam of Ibn Atallah

It's not from anyone famous that I read this from, rather from another forum...
It has both humour and wisdom within it, so I thought I would share
:
Bro - he's a cyber jihadi and shahadat is getting banned. I am sure he's got empty washing-up liquid bottles and toilet rolls taped to his chest as he types this.
Probably he thinks he's got 72 virgins waiting for him, only they're virtual ones.My twin boys were severely burnt in a garage fire.

Allah never bestows a blessing on His slave then takes it away and compensates him by giving him patience, but that with which he has been compensated is better than that which has been taken away from him. [Umar ibn Abdul Aziz]

In ‘Ighathat al-Lahfan’ (1/94), Ibn al-Qayyim said:
“From the plots of the enemy of Allah (i.e. Satan) is that he makes the believers afraid of his soldiers and allies. So, they do not strive against them, they do not enjoin what is good, and do not forbid what is bad. This is from his greatest plots for the believers, as Allah has informed us by Saying: {“It is only Satan that suggests to you the fear of his allies. So, do not fear them, and fear Me if you are believers.”}
…Qatadah explained this by saying: “He makes them great and powerful in his heart. This is why Allah Said: {“…So, do not fear them, and fear Me if you are believers.”} So, the stronger your faith becomes, the weaker the fear in your heart will be of Satan’s allies, and the weaker your faith becomes, the stronger the fear in your heart will be of them.”"

Indeed, Satan is the one who inflates the reputation of his allies and dresses them up with the garments of power and ability, and implants in our hearts the idea that they have the ability to do this and that, and that they can bring about benefit and harm. He does all this to fulfill his own interests: to use them to spread evil and corruption on Earth, as well as to cause people to bow down to them and submit their hearts to them so that nobody would say a word of opposition to their faces, and that nobody would even think of criticizing them or preventing them from evil and corruption.
Satan has an interest in falsehood and evil becoming widespread, and that he appear strong, capable, overwhelming, aggressive, and tyrannical so that no opposition stands to his face, nobody repels him, and nobody overpowers him. Satan has an interest in maintaining things this way. So, under the umbrella of fear, terror, and aggression, his allies carry out on Earth that which brings joy to his eyes! They make good appear as evil and evil appear as good. They spread corruption and falsehood and deception. They stifle out the voice of truth, guidance, and justice. They set themselves up as gods on Earth to support evil and kill off good without anyone daring to confront them or stand up to them or expel them from their positions of power - in fact, without anyone pointing out the falsehood that they have beautified or beautifying the truth that they have painted as ugly.
And Satan is a deceptive plotter who hides behind his allies and spreads fear through them into the hearts of those who fail to protect themselves from his whispers. Here, Allah exposes him and stands him naked without any covering for his plots, and makes his reality plain and clear to the believers - the reality of his plots and whispers - so that they are aware of them. So, they do not fear the allies of Satan, as they are too weak to be feared by a believer who relies on his Lord and His Power.
Indeed, the only power that is to be feared is the power that has the ability to bring about benefit and harm. It is the Power of Allah, and it is the Power that the believers in Allah fear. When they fear it alone - the greatest Power of all powers - no force on Earth can stand in front of them - neither the power of Satan nor the power of the allies of Satan…{“It is only Satan that suggests to you the fear of his allies. So, do not fear them, and fear Me if you are believers.”}”
“I am Allah! There is none worthy of worship except Me! I am the King of kings! The hearts and foreheads of all kings are between My Hands. So, whoever obeys Me, I will make the hearts of all kings merciful to him, and whoever disobeys me, I will make them a source of agony for him. So, do not preoccupy yourselves with the abilities of the kings. Rather, repent to Me and obey Me, and I will make them support you.”

“Sometimes in order to help He makes us cry.
Happy the eye that sheds tears for His sake.
Fortunate the heart that burns for His sake.
Laughter always follows tears.
Blessed are those who understand.
Life blossoms wherever water flows.
Where tears are shed divine mercy is shown.”

Hmmm... there are some ripper stories in the mathnawi... some that I would not be able to read to my family... authenticated by scholars... especially his 5th volume...
I pray that it is an interpolation, but am really scared that it is not... so much proof to vouch it being authentic

Shaykh al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah was famous for stating profound statements, below is a selection of some of them:
1. Every punishment from Him is pure justice and every blessing from Him is pure grace.
2.Whoever desires everlasting bliss, let him adhere firmly to the threshold of servitude.
3. The Lord loves to be loved.
4.Guidance is not attained except with knowledge and correct direction is not attained except with patience.
5. In this world is a Paradise, whoever does not enter it will not enter the Paradise of the Hereafter.
6. The one who is (truly) imprisoned is the one whose heart is imprisoned from Allah and the captivated one is the one whose desires have enslaved him.
7. This whole religion revolves around knowing the truth and acting by it, and action must be accompanied by patience.
8. Worship is founded upon the Legal Law and following it, not upon ones base desires and innovation.
9. If you do not taste the sweetness of an action in your heart, suspect it, for the Lord, Exalted is He, is the Appreciative.
10. The more the servant loves his Master, the less will he love other objects and they will decrease in number. The less the servant loves his Master, the more will he love other objects and they will increase in number.
11. Perpetually is the servant either the recipient of a blessing from Allah, in which case he is need of gratitude; or he is the perpetrator of a sin, in which case he is in need of repentance; he is always moving from one blessing to another and is always in need of repentance.
12. Sins cause harm and repentance removes the cause.
13. Bearing witness to tawhid opens the door of good and repentance from sins closes the door of evil.
14. The Jihad against the soul is the foundation for the Jihad against the disbelievers and hypocrites.
15. A man will never fear something besides Allah unless it be due to a disease in his heart.
16. Trials and tribulation are like feeling the heat and cold, when one knows that they cannot be avoided, he will not feel anger at theirs onset, nor will he be distressed or disheartened.
17. The perfection of tawhid is found when there remains nothing in the heart except Allah, the servant is left loving those He loves and what He loves, hating those He hates and what He hates, showing allegiance to those He has allegiance to, showing enmity to those He shows enmity towards, ordering what He orders and prohibiting what he prohibits.
18. In this world, man finds in the remembrance of Allah, praising Him and worshipping Him, a delight that is incomparable to anything else.
19. The objective of asceticism is to leave all that harms the servants Hereafter and the objective of worship is to do all that benefit his Hereafter.
20. Sins are like chains and locks preventing their perpetrator from roaming the vast garden of tawhid and reaping the fruits of righteous actions.
21. What can my enemies do to me? I have in my breast both my heaven and my garden. If i travel they are with me, never leaving me. Imprisonment for me is a chance to be alone with my Lord. To be killed is martyrdom and to be exiled from my land is a spiritual journey.

Nasr ibn Mahmood al Balkhee said; Ahmad ibn Harb stated:
“I worshiped Allaah for fifty years, I wasn’t able to find the sweetness of worship until I forsook three things:
1. I forsook seeking the acceptance of people, so I was able to speak the truth.
2. I forsook the companionship of the sinner, so I was able to accompany the righteous.
3. I forsook the sweetness of the life of this world, so I was able to find the sweetness of the afterlife.

Abu Bakr (RA) speech upon accepting the Khilafa:
O People! I have been put in authority over you and I am not the best of you. So if I do the right thing then help me and if I do wrong then put me straight. Truthfulness is a sacred trust and lying is a betrayal. The weak amongst you is strong in my sight. I will surely try to remove his pain and suffering. And the strong amongst you is weak to me I will - Allah willing - realise the right from him fully. When obscene things spread among any nation, calamities generally continued to descend upon them. As long as I obey Allah and His messenger, you should obey me, and if I do not obey Allah and His messenger, then obedience to me is not incumbent upon you. (Now prepare for prayer).

One day when I was feeling ill
a sparrow flew on to my window sill.
He didn't see me tucked up in bed
as he pecked away at a piece of bread.
I thought of how he could fly
when I, in bed could only lie.
I thought how Allah had made him small
and then of dinosaurs, and giraffes so tall.
I thought of many, many things
some with four legs, others with wings.
I thought how wonderful Allah is
because everything around me is really His."Abiding in Patience for even a single day, (while striving) in the path of Allah is better than this world and all that is in it" - Bukhari, Ahmad
