    Love this quote mashaAllah.

It is reported that Ibrahim b. Adham (d162H) – Allah have mercy on him – once passed through the market of Basrah. People gathered around him and asked:

O Abu Ishaq, Allah the Exalted says in his Book. ‘Call on me, I will answer your prayers’, but we have been calling on Him for a long time and He does not answer our prayers. [Ibrahim] replied, “O people of Basrah, your hearts have died in respect to ten things: First, you know Allah but you do not give Him His rights; second, you have read Allah’s Book but you do not act by it; third, you claim to love Allah’s Messenger – Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – yet you abandon his Sunnah; fourth, you claim to be enemies to Shaytaan but you conform to [his ways]; fifth, you say you love Paradise yet you do not work for it; sixth, you say you fear The Fire yet you put yourselves closer to it [by sinning]; seventh, you say death is true but you do not prepare for it; eighth, you busy yourselves with the faults of others and disregard your own; ninth, you consume the favors of your Lord but are not grateful for them; and tenth, you bury your dead but take no lesson from them.”

    -Abu Nu’aym, Hilyah Al-Awliya 8: 15, 16.

When people say you’ve changed it’s only because you’ve stopped living your life their way.

'Most people work hard and spend their health trying to achieve wealth. Then they retire and spend their wealth trying to get back their health.'
-not sure who said that, but I got it in an email from Kevin Gianni, a health food expert.
Whoever remembers death often will find a small amount (of worldly things) sufficient for him; and whoever includes his speech in his deeds will speak little.

Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful. (Surat al Isra': 27)

Um, but I was taught it's pronounced "Wa lam yakullahu, kufwan ahad" That is, the 'noon' is dropped even though it exists in the word.

Fatima can you ask your hubby please?

From what I can remember, please someone correct me if I'm wrong, the noon with no harakah is silenced if the following word begins with a laam or a rah and has a shaddah on it. When this happens with other letters such as Yeh, woa, meen and noon, the noon with no harakah is slightly mentioned
"...The eyes are filled with tears and the heart is full of grief but we do not say anything except that which is pleasing to our lord.."

The noon sakin followed by a laam or rah falls under the rule of idgham. You're both right, the noon in the above example shouldn't be pronounced, but I just did a direct transliteration of the words as it is written in the Qur'an. Sorry for any confusion.

maybe he means "is but a reflection of Allah's existence". We'd have to know the context but I doubt he's comparing Allah azzawajal to the creation

Sorry sis, maybe I shouldn't have taken a quote without the context. The lecture was saying how Allah's creation is a reflection of Allah in the sense that as humans we need to recognise that everything is basically about Allah swt. Ofcourse, there is none even like the like of Him.

I'll quote him in more detail and inshaAllah you will understand what he meant:

"For example, Allah swt is constantly emanating His Mercy, He is constantly emanating the fact that He is Rabul 'Alameen. His constantly emanating his Grandeur, His Greatness, His Supremacy. Every characteristic of Allah swt is constantly being 'transmitted' from Him. So what do we do, we sit and look at the world around us and it's a mechanism to remind us of Allah. It allows us to refocus on Allah. It allows us to tune in this heart of ours, this mind of ours, into the fact that Allah is our Creator. The whole universe by nature is programmed this way. Every single bit of creation, is a tiny little transistor that is meant to be a receptical for Allah swt's Greatness. For example, the rose by it's nature is programmed to reflect a certain characteristic of Allah. In the end, it's a reflection of Allah. When you look at how beautiful that flower is, it's all a reflection of Allah." -Shaykh Husain Abdul Sattar

SubhanAllaah it's such an amazing language. Without a doubt the richest language in the world.

Anti-Defamation Commission executive director Deborah Stone, who is Jewish, wrote in Galus Australis that Melbourne's Jews should ignore the campaign against the group. ''The day we start assuming all Muslims are a threat is the day we end religious freedom, not just for others but also for ourselves,''.

    Allah The All Mighty says:

{And put forward to them the example of two men: unto one of them We had given two gardens of grapes, and We had surrounded both with date palms; and had put between them green crops (cultivated fields). Each of those two gardens brought forth its produce, and failed not in the least therein, and We caused a river to gush forth in the midst of them. And he had property (or fruit) and he said to his companion, in the course of mutual talk: "I am more than you in wealth and stronger in respect of men." And he went into his garden while in a state (of pride and disbelief), unjust to himself. He said: "I think not that this will ever perish. And I think not the Hour will ever come, and if indeed I am brought back to my Lord, (on the Day of Resurrection), I surely shall find better than this when I return to Him." His companion said to him during the talk with him: "Do you disbelieve in Him Who created you out of dust (i.e. your father Adam), then out of Nutfah (mixed semen drops of male and female discharge), then fashioned you into a man?"But as for my part, (I believe) that He is Allah, my Lord, and none shall I associate as partner with my Lord. "It was better for you to say, when you entered your garden: 'That which Allah wills (will come to pass)! There is no power but with Allah! If you see me less than you in wealth, and children. "It may be that my Lord will give me something better than your garden and will send on it Husban (torment, bolt) from the sky, then it will be a slippery earth. "Or the water thereof (of the gardens) becomes deep- sunken (underground) so that you will never be able to seek it." So his fruits were encircled (with ruin). And he remained clapping his hands (with sorrow) over what he had spent upon it, while it was all destroyed on its trellises, and he could only say: "Would that I had ascribed no partners to my Lord!" And he had no group of men to help him against Allah, nor could he defend (or save) himself. There (on the Day of Resurrection), Al -Walayah (protection, power, authority and kingdom) will be for Allah (Alone), the True God. He (Allah) is the Best for reward and the Best for the final end. (La ilaha illallah -none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)}.
