Once, a Bedouin was asked what made an unsophisticated man like him believe in Allah.

Bedouin: "Do you see these marks in the sand?"

    Man: "Yes."

Bedouin: "What do they tell you?"

    Man: "A camel went by."

Bedouin: "Did you see the camel?"

Man: "No, but these footprints in the sand suggest that a camel made them."

Bedouin: "Do you see these mountains?"

    Man: "Yes."

Bedouin: "They are indicative to me that Allah made them."
How canst thou say to thy brother,Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

    A gem from Facebook:

The story of Imam Ahmed and The Baker
    (amazing story about istighfar)

Imam Ahmed, may God be pleased with him, once was traveling and needed to stay somewhere overnight. When he went to the masjid, the guard (not recognizing Imam Ahmed) denied him entrance. Imam Ahmed tried numerous times, but the guard did not accept his requests. Frustrated, Imam Ahmed resolved to spend the night in the masjid yard. The guard became furious and dragged him away, despite the old age and frailty of Imam Ahmed. A baker, whose shop was nearby, watched this scene and took pity on Imam Ahmed. He invited the Imam to stay with him for the night.

While there, Imam Ahmed noticed that the baker continually made istighfar (asking for Allah's forgiveness) while working, and in the morning, the Imam eagerly asked his host about the latters continual seeking of forgiveness. The baker said it had become like second nature, and Imam Ahmed then asked whether the man had experienced any reward from this practice.

The baker answered, By Allah! No duaa (supplication to God) I made except that it was answered but one.

And what is that duaa? asked Imam Ahmed.

To be able to see the famed Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal!

Imam Ahmed interjected, I am Ahmed ibn Hanbal!

He then went on to add:

By Allah! I was dragged to your place so that you can have your duaa/wish come true.

"The Simpsons: Lisa's Date with Density (#8.7)" (1996)
Mr. Dewey Largo: Miss Simpson, do you find something funny about the word "tromboner"?
Lisa Simpson: No, sir. I was laughing at something outside.
Sherri: She was looking at Nelson!
    Class: Lisa likes Nelson!
    Milhouse: She does not!
    Class: Milhouse likes Lisa!
    Janey: He does not!
    Class: Janey likes Milhouse!
Uter van Finkle: She does not!
    Class: Uter likes Milhouse.
Mr. Dewey Largo: *Nobody* likes Milhouse! Lisa, you've got detention!

Milhouse: Bart, I don't want you to see me cry.
Bart: Aw come on, I've seen you cry a million times. You cry when you scrape your knee, you cry when we're out of chocolate milk, you cry when you're doing long division and you have a remainder left over.
Milhouse: Well, I didn't want you to see me cry THIS time.

Joe* puts down Jack*'s efforts of building something novel, with no real function, but uniquely fun nonetheless.

Jim* comes along and criticises Joe*'s attitude with the following line:
Joe*'s time and resources could be used better by him stopping his criticism of others and coming up with a cure for cancer.
    I reckon that was gold!

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr: Allahs Messenger (peace be upon him) said,

"Fasting and the Quran intercede for a man. Fasting says, O my Lord, I have kept him away from his food and his passions by day, so accept my intercession for him.

The Quran says, I have kept him away from sleep by night, so accept my intercession for him.

Then their intercession is accepted."------Bayhaqi transmitted it in Shuab al-Iman. Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith no. 1963,

Take from this temporary home to the eternal home. Consider this life as something that you have left, I swear by Allah you will leave it. Bismillah walhamdulillah wassalaatu wassalaam 'alaa RasoolAllah

Assalaamu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh

An-Nawawi (Rahimahullah) said in his book, 'Riyadh as-Saliheen',

'Know that everyone should only talk about what might lead to benefit. When talking and being silent are equal in benefit, then the Sunnah is to be silent. This is because to be talkative will usually lead to uttering evil, even if it starts with seemingly harmless words. One should always be on the safe side, a state that is indeed desired.'

Abdullah b. Mas’ûdAllah be pleased with him – said:

The believer sees his sins as if he is sitting at the foot of a mountain fearing that it might fall on him, while the sinner (fâjir) sees his sins as a fly that lands on his nose, he just waves it away.

Al-Bukhârî, Al-Sahîh, The Book of Supplications, Chapter on Tawbah.

Ibn Hajr quotes in his commentary, Fath Al-Bârî:

Ibn Abî Jumrah said, “The reason for this [fear] is that the heart of a believer is illuminated; so when he sees from himself something that goes against what he illuminates his heart with, it is very distressing to him. The wisdom behind giving the example of a mountain is that a person might find some way to escape from other dangers, but if a mountain falls on a person he does not survive. In short, the believer is dominated by fear (of Allah) due to the strength of îmân he has; he does not therefore feel falsely secure about being punished because of his sins. This is the way of the Muslim: he always fears and checks on himself, his good deeds are little to him and he fears even the small bad deeds he has done.”
