Let not your tongue mention the shame of another. For you yourself are covered in shame and all men have tongues. If your eyes fall upon the sins of your brother, shield them and say 'Oh my eyes, all men have eyes'. Imam Ash-Shafi'ee

When He removes something in your possession,
it is only in order to empty your hands for an even greater gift."

"O son of Adam, do not be happy with richness and do not despair of poverty. Do not feel sad during affliction and do not rejoice over prosperity, for just as gold is tried by fire, the pious are tried by affliction. You will not attain what you want except by giving up what you desire, and you will not attain what you aspire to except by enduring patiently what you hate, and exerting yourself in implementing that which has been made compulsory upon you (by Allah)."

    -Ali [Rahimullah]

Remember [there's a reason] you have two ears and one mouth. Listen more than you speak, which improves your relationships, increases the bonding with your family, children, and friends, and allows you to be fully present in a conversation, rather than focusing on what to say next! If you want to get closer to your Lord and increase your knowledge in the religion, then divorce yourself from the dunya - A point that Ahmad Ayyad raised in tonight's class at IISNA, I believe it's based on a saying from Ali radi Allaahu 'anhu.
What is for you will not pass you and what passes you is not for you!

I used to have that quote in my hotmail signature but someone told me that the wording is not right because Allah doesn't "steal"...

"Verily, Allah provides sustenance to whom He wills, without limit." Q. 3:37 God is not obliged to do anything for anyone. However He said, And[remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe. Q. 14:7. Shukr is then the greatest of gifts, al hamdulillah" - Imam Abdul Latif Finch (may Allah swt preserve him)

The Book of Assistance mashaAllah is an astounding book, highly recommended, sister Saara gave us a whole series of classes on that one book! Learnt a lot from it alhamdulillah may Allah swt reward Imam al Haddad and sister Saara for relating it to us, aameen.
