Staying over at my cousin's place, her hubby is also away on Khurooj and we had such fun making Palak Paneer, Gulab Jamun, Burfi and fairy floss at home! :-D.
I was sitting infront of the tray of Burfi, having already eaten the Gulab Jamuns going : "When do u think I'll be skinny again?!" My cousin cracked up laughing and told me that she was going to snap a pic of me sitting infront of all those sweets, eating them and wondering when I'm going to lose weight and put it on Facebook for all our relos to see! LOL!! :-P

If you make intense supplication and the timing of the answer is delayed, do not despair of it. His reply to you is gauranteed; but in the way He chooses, not the way you choose, and at the moment He desires, not the moment you desire.

LOL, it's funny how it feels like time is crawling at that time but once it's over u think it's actually gone fast, LOL! I think it's relative as well, coz this is alot quicker than when he went for 4 months Khurooj or when he went for Hajj and Khurooj last year which took 2.5 months, so in relative terms it seems quick!

My highlight today though was seeing my brother this morning, he just returned from 40 days Khurooj last night, and I woke up for Fajr to find him sitting in the drawing room (I had stayed up till 10:30 waiting for him but apparently he got home at 12:30am). Was so nice to see him and hear about his Khurooj experience. They drove 15,000 kms to Perth and back, and visited lots of muslims in alot of towns along the way and in the surrounding areas. I was thinking that it must have been insanely uncomfortable driving though the desert in this heat (there was no air-con in the car that they were driving) but apparently it was just pure Rehma that it rained pretty much all the way to Perth. But yeah they visited muslims in towns where there were no other muslims and he was saying that you really realise the value of an Ummati when u drive 5000 kms just to see one muslim in one town, and u sleep on the asphalt in your sleeping bag, and the heat during the day is such that u cannot step on the ground even when you stop for salat, and u go there not even knowing whether u will find him at home or not, just so u can offer salams to a muslim and ask him how he is, coz he lives in a place where he may not see another muslim for months, and it just makes you realise how much we take for granted the muslims that we are surronded by everyday and how we should honour and value every single one of them because Allah(SWT) has honoured them by giving them the gift of Imaan. And he said that they visited some of the decendants of the Afghans still living in the desert, they had married local women and their children were all Christian and they knew nothing about Islam except that they were the decendants of muslims. Even when my hubby went on the Perth route he said that they were praying in a place where an Afghan decendant came up to them asking them what they were doing coz he remembered seeing his grandfather doing the same thing when he was little. My hubby was also telling me that there are places along the way where nobody knows how to perform Saltul Janaza so if a muslim dies they write the name down and bury them then wait for the Jamaats to pass though so someone can perfom Salatul Janaza for these muslims. My bro said that they visited old Afghan graveyards to offer salams to the dead muslims and make dua for them because they are out in the middle of nowehere and nobody remembers to make dua for them. Subhanallah hearing about the Jamaat experiences always makes me cry...

    Ooh lucky!

I bumped into his wife on Monday afternoon, she's such a lovely woman maashAllah. I hadn't caught up with her since Eid, and since they'll be around for a while, I'll be making a better effort to see her more often inshaAllah hehe

Is the South African team going to be around for much longer? I'm so useless with cricket

Lets just make dua this new guy doesn't end up being worse. May Allah give bush what he deserves but there could be worse leaders to come. Eg; the situation in Iraq with Saddam. They wanted him out and killed, they got what they wanted but how much worse did Iraq get? InshaAllah Barack will make smarter choices than what bush did..

No worries, unfortunately its South Africa's last game in Sydney on their tour of Australia. I think I need to lure Shaykh Naeem to Melbourne

    Assalamu Alaikum

I had afew highlights over this long weekend.

    - I went and visited Shaykh Naeem Abdul Wali for the first time. Hes a beautiful person, and alhamdulilah, InshAllah ill be arranging for him to come here at some stage. Someone close to me said that the people in Melbourne do not deserve someone as good as he is, I pray that I can prove that person wrong naturally for the right reasons

    - I participated in the Crescent Project, run by the Alghazzali Centre. Alhamdulilah we fed around 400 homeless people in Sydney. It was such a great feeling to be able to help these people who are in desperate need of assistance. So many sad stories, it was heart breaking really talking to these people. MashAllah the brothers and sisters of the AGC did a great job; may Allah swt reward them all.

It was very tiring as I did a double shift. Spent 6 hrs or so preparing the food in extremely hot temperatures in the kitchen, along with the other volunteers from the AGC who did a fantastic job, then another few hrs in distributing the food. For me, it was simply an honour to have the opportunity to be able to get involved in it. InshAllah I will be looking to run it in Melbourne.

    - I also went to the Crescent Sighting Workshop also run by the AGC. Alhamdulilah there were about 40 attendees from the Indonesian community. We had someone who flew over from Indonesia to attend, as well as people from Perth, New Zealand and Melbourne. It was benefitial for me at a personal level to be able to know more about it.

A busy, but alhamdulilah, satisfying long weekend

Is it just me or is that really offensive?

They didn't say it to offend, but more because that person believes that people in Melbourne wouldn't appreciate him, and what he has to offer.

Last night at IISNA as i was closing the curtain between the brother/sister side, i noticed an older man coming in through the door. He looked like a true blue Aussie and he didn't seem Muslim. It appeared he was new to the centre and a bit shy/hesitant as he was walking in. I figured he must have heard about IISNA and popped in to see what it was all about. Well, at the end of the talk this very same man converted to Islam! Allahu Akbar!!

What makes it extra special is that he was a senior man, i'd say 50+ .. and we all know it's harder for a person to change their religious beliefs the older they are. Alhumdulillah. I don't know how long he had been looking into Islam, but it never gets old or boring upon seeing someone embrace the truth.
