I joined an "Muslim" forum today to advertise our local islamic youth center and do a little da'wah.
I posted a few things up. They were up for a few hours, then i seen some people saying on the forum "whats with the ASWJ posts? I thought they were banned.."
10mins later i cant access the forum anymore 0_0
For being from Ahl Assunah Wal Jamaáh?
The ignorance of some people is disgusting...
Mind you they're more than happy to have shia users there

Every forum is biased. Just like this one
You should never go anywhere expecting it won't be.
Al-Hasan al-Basri said of hypocrisy: No one fears it but a believer, and no one feels safe from it but a hypocrite.

curiously undercover, yep I got off the forum you're talking about because they defend shia's for the sake of not upsetting the members even if you talk about what shias are doing in Iraq. They just deny it

yeah I know. It's because ASWJ spoke against a shaykh of theirs that was coming here so they were angry and wanted to reciprocate by banning any ads of ASWJ events on their forums

What forum was this?
Religion is all about moral character; therefore, whoever beats you in character beats you in religion."
O people who take pleasure in a life that will vanish, falling in love with a faded shadow is sheer stupidity!

we're not allowed to say princess haha
today in Indigenous studies class the topic was about Creation and the connection of Aboriginals to land. Amazing class yeah but at the end we were talking a bit about the media and how they report a lot on sports. The lecturer said the reason is to make people unaware of what's really important. Anyway after everyone was leaving, her and I were talking more about it and then she quoted 'Lennon' which got me cut real bad "religion is the opiate of the masses" she said it stops people from questioning. And I said no my religion encourages people to question and she's like "well, that's good" and that was it.
Like for the most part of the lecture it was about the importance of spirituality as opposed to believing in science which "constantly changes as new discoveries are made" and then she just had to ruin it at the end "religion is the opiate of the masses"بعبارة مختصرة جبهتنا منصورة

Which is understandable considering the slander that occured in the process. I read a quote today from FB which hits hard:
"It is terribly sad that people of influence from particular organisations (why they are, I do not know) would tell young impressionable people of the community not to participate in other organisations. We are our own worst enemies, and may Allah rid us of such destructive influences"Ibn Taymiyya (r) said: The Way of those Shuyukh of Tasawwuff is to call people to Allah's Divine Presence and obedience to the Prophet (Majma'a Fatawa Ibn Taymiyya, Dar ar-Rahmat, Cairo. Vol 11. Pg 497)

The problem comes from some people believing that certain acts take you out of the fold of Islam.....so to them, they are just advising good and forbidding evil. May Allah (swt) guide us all to the straight path and keep us steadfast on it.
When Allah tests you, it is never intended to destroy you.
When He removes something in your possession,
it is only in order to empty your hands for an even greater gift."

Whilst advising good and forbidding evil is certainly a noble thing to do, not everyone knows how to do it, due to a lack of understanding. It can end up creating further issues, and in a person's effort to forbid evil, they end up achieving chaos.
Ameen to your dua

Note: Its very good that you are noticing this and are concerned about it."Indeed gentleness does not enter into anything except it beautifies it, nor is it removed from anything except that it disfigures it." - Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) [Muslim 12/212]
