Yep it was pretty good. Al Ghazzali Centre held an Xpresso night where we had a screening of it; Definetely worth seeing. Imam Afroz gave some commentary about it afterwards which was also insightful alhamdulilah.

I believe there are some major inacuracies in the structure of the story being told here in this documentary, yes there was fighting taking place between different factions of moors (who were consisting of the majority of the armed fighters who initially defeated spanish forces in the south of spain, when the first fleets arrived), but that wasn't the only reason for the fall of power. It was actually mainly due to the fact that northern provinces of Muslim Spain bordering the still spanish controlled north were allowed autonomy (freedom of government and rule in their specific northern provinces), the only thing they werent allowed to do and agreed to do for the first hundred or so years was attack any one, but what some several catholic governed provinces of norhtern spain did was they garrisoned forces behind lines with help coming from other catholic middle age european countries like france and germany. There they staged attacks in places like the mountains in their own provinces where the towns were completely destroyed and ongoing fighting took place for decades in fluctuating occurance.

I've seen the castles (where they used to fight) in northern spain myself, there are many small (about the size of a house) castles riddle all over the northwest of spain (Picos de Europa and the Cordillera mountains), ive seen some still in tact but most in tatters, the ones in tact look inpenetrable from the location they put them on (high rocks and cliffs), but i have seen atleast 50 of them just in a one day trip all broken and smashed with the foundations of bluestone still bare. The fact is in the north of spain there was fluctuating fighting taking place where the spanish were pushing south very slowly for many many years with military aid.

It was supposed to be for the western world at the time a golden example of what science and religion had to offer while working in tandem, practically it was the enlightenment not a time for war, but unfortunately after hundreds of years and the disappearance of the once experienced and religiously inspired morrish fighters, slowly lost hold of dominance and influence. The truth is, the leaders of Europe were being wooed by the magnificence of what Islam had to offer, but they chose destruction rather than mutual interest in the end (religious tolerance being shunned obviously by legacy of the spanish inquisition.
How canst thou say to thy brother,Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

thriins, that is interesting...I did not know that...Masha'Allah Iwould love to visit Spain and Turkey off course. What annoyed me was the lecturer did not talk about the treatment of the muslims when King Ferdinand and Isabella took over but would go on and on and on about the treatment of the jews and how they were displaced and killed or forced to convert, the exact same happened to the muslims.

Akhi Abu_Azzam, it is not a politics unit, it is a History unit this semester I'm studying a subject also very interesting called Making of the modern Middle East.
