I
There are some families who are in dire need for financial support as their husbands are locked up. I was personally told by one of the brothers who got released about their situations and felt ashamed that we have sisters in the community whose situations we are not aware of as they are too dignified to tell anyone about their condition.
Without going into too much detail, they are currently only receiving Centrelink allowance and that barely covers rent and food, let alone bills, petrol, school fees, etc.
The AussieMuslims community has dug deep in the past when needed, and this is another occasion where your sisters are in need. Sr Submission has used her account in the past for fundraising, so we will inshaAllah be using her account to collect and then pass on the funds to the sisters. Below are the account details.
Account Name: Faten Elayoubi
BSB: 013 011
Account Number: 764303212
Branch: ANZ
When donating, please put "Donation" in the reference field and donate with what you are comfortable with. $5 may be little in your eyes but will be large on the scales inshaAllah.
"They ask you (O Muhammad) what they should spend in charity. Say: 'Whatever you spend with a good heart, give it to parents, relatives, orphans, the helpless, and travellers in need. Whatever good you do, Allah is aware of it.'" - The Holy Quran, 2:215

...the Muslim raised his sword up and swung it down hard on the kafir, so forcefully that the blade went down his hip and split him in half. When the Muslim unveiled his face, he looked at me and said, "What do you think of that, Ka'b? I am Abu Dujana."

There was a large fundraising event a while ago for the sisters you'e talking about, unfortunately they didn't actually receive all of the funds, even though they were facing extreme financial hardship.
InshaAllah any money raised will help ease their burden and make it that little bit easier for them.

I couldn't say, if you ever get the chance ask the sisters it was raised for inshaAllah. Maybe they know.

There's $500 sitting in the account already, mashaa'Allaah. I'll keep this thread updated on a daily basis with the amount raised inshaa'Allaah. Not sure how long Abu Dujana wants to keep this going for, but we'll wait about a week and see how much is raised. We may pass the money on after a week, and continue on with it from there for a couple of weeks more.

I think what would benefit these sisters would be ongoing support....an amount given to them each month. Even if we were able to raise the amount each month for their rent. It may be just $10 or $20 from each of us every week, but it would add up to a lot and really help them insha'Allah.

How many sisters are there?
Lets say there's 6. If their rent is say 1200 per month, then we need to raise 7200 per month.
Possible???
How many regular members are there who would be willing to contribute and set up a weekly automatic deduction fromt heir account? When Allah tests you, it is never intended to destroy you.

Maybe it be more benefitial for them if people were to offer them work, especially if they have children, something that is flexible might be appreciated.

Would it be possible to get their contacts so we can visit em? And if they got kids we can buy them gifts aswell. Even if we've cooked a fair bit can drop some off.
Bit late notice but, my BBQ is on tomorrow at greenvale inshaAllah. It would be nice to invite then and have then be around sisters. If it's possible, let me know and I'll see if I can do something.Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

The problem with doing things on a larger scale (especially if you do it as public as this) is that the money can affect their Centerlink payments.
Al-Hasan al-Basri said of hypocrisy: No one fears it but a believer, and no one feels safe from it but a hypocrite.

There's $1,921 currently sitting in the bank. May Allaah reward all those who have given generously, and all those who want to but can't.

If you haven't already, you should encourage these sisters to apply for ICV qard hassan program

With the cash collected from outside, there was just under $2500 raised for the sisters. May Allah reward everyone who contributed.
