.....who woke from a nap to find chaotic scenes at the house, said relatives told him they heard one of the boys say "fire, fire" shortly before an explosion.

"He started saying 'fire, fire' and we didn't think nothing of it. We just thought that one match that he had in his hand he was able to spark it and he was saying fire for that. And two minutes later, far out."

Henry Ozsoy, whose wife was driving past the house, also said the boys' grandfather had told him they believed the boys were playing with matches.

As TP mentioned earlier, we need to be extra careful with our children.

May Allah ease the pain of these children and their father, and cure their injuries, and grant the family patience.

    As salaamu alaykum,

The brother sends his salaam and is very appreciative of all your support. He asks that you continue to make dua. He is doing well alhamdulillah and in healthy spirits. The doctors have reported some positive signs in the condition of the twins. Walhamdulillah.

Subhaan'Allaah.. I was telling my dad and brother about this earlier, as the brother used to come to our shop with his kids back in the day, and they got really upset and worried about them all. May Allaah give them a full and quick recovery.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TWIN boys who suffered shocking burns in a garage fire were playing with matches before a barbecue gas bottle and a can of mower fuel exploded.

Omer and Abdullah Kocoglu, both 4, were fighting for their lives in the Royal Children's Hospital yesterday after fire tore through the garage of their grandfather's Hampton Park home on Monday night.

The boys' devastated uncle Muhammed Ali Kocoglu, who was asleep when the fire took hold, said he was told the boys were seen with matches shortly before the garage exploded.

"One of them started saying, 'Fire, fire', and we didn't think nothing of it. We just thought that that one match he had in his hand, he was able to spark it and he was saying fire to that," he said.

"Two minutes later, far out, it was an explosion. There was a gas tank for the barbecue and it exploded."

A lawnmower and petrol can may have also fuelled the inferno.

Mr Kocoglu said his brother had moved back into his father's home for a few weeks with his wife, sons and two daughters, aged 12 and 16.

Mr Kocoglu described the sheer panic as his family heard the boys' cries.

"I thought the house was on fire," he said.

"I woke up and saw smoke in the kitchen and everyone was screaming, 'Outside'."

Mr Kocoglu said his brother Isa fought bravely to save the children.

"My older brother tried to go in," he said.

"He attempted three times and he couldn't because it was so hot.

"Then just out of nowhere the kids just came out themselves ... they were all on fire, very badly."

The boys' father suffered serious burns to his hands but was released from hospital yesterday.

Neighbour Travis Graeske, 24, said he tried desperately to save the children but was driven back by the flames.

He said he and two other neighbours poured water on the boys' wounds while some onlookers filmed the unfolding tragedy.

Alhamdulillah, the survival rate of people who make it to hospital seems fairly good:

Selected Statistics on Admissions to Burn Centers, 2000-2009
    Survival Rate: 94.8%
    http://www.ameriburn.org/resources_factsheet.php
(wikipedia puts the survival rate at over 98%)

So once someone makes it to a modern hospital their chances of survival are fairly good, by the grace of Allah.

May Allah grant them a speedy recovery, and give their family patience and make it easy for them. SubhanAllah, I can't stop thinking about the boys since last night.

Visited the brother last night who as is@ said is in good spirits and appreciative of the support from his fellow brothers and sisters, those he knows and those he doesn't.

The burns are 50% and 65% respectively (not 80% as reported) and doctors are keeping an eye out for infection which could be deadly, so please make dua to Allah that He heals the wounds and keeps it away from infections.

It was amazing to hear him say that he had given up hope when he tried to go in and save them but couldn't from the extreme heat and smoke - fire experts said that it was as high as 400 degrees celcius - and the brother called out 'they're dead', only for Allah to allow them to come out themselves although they were on fire. He rolled them over on the grass and smothered them but didn't work, they were then hosed down.

The hospital has organised free accommodation for the family across the road as they will be there for 3 months. May Allah give the staff hidaayah. As the brother put it, their religion is as unstable as some of the actions of the Muslims, but their actions are as stable as our religion.

    Keep the du'as coming inshaAllah.
...the Muslim raised his sword up and swung it down hard on the kafir, so forcefully that the blade went down his hip and split him in half. When the Muslim unveiled his face, he looked at me and said, "What do you think of that, Ka'b? I am Abu Dujana."

all day i've been thinking about this brother and his children...poor poor little boys what they had to endure ( and then as a parent to witness their pain ya Allah.. my heart hurts just thinking about this...today my 2 yr old saw me crying and he goes to me "what mama"? i held him for a long time, kissing and hugginh him thinking of those two boys, how easy it is to lose a life in a split of the second...this tragedy made me think how fragile life is...love your children, show them your love and affection, and appreciate every minute you have with them, for indeed, we never know what will tomorrow bring..

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

SubhanAllah, I logged into AM to give thanks to the brother for getting back to me with a request, and somehow I stumble across this mus'eebah. Our broken heart goes out to the brother and his family, may Allah subhaanahu wa ta'ala give our brother and his children full shifaa and 'afiyah. May they have Sabr (Patience) and Tahammul (forbearance) in such a challenging time. Ameen.

Which hospital are they at? The Alfred?

Truly a moment of anguish and sorrow and yet when all hope seems to have been lost, Allah subhaanahu wa ta'ala brings the children out of the blazing fire, subhanAllah. Ya Allah protect us, our families and the Muslimeen from the naar of Jahannam, and give us 'afiyah in this dunya and Salamah in the next. Allahumma Ameen.

I didn't visit the kids as they were in ICU but the brother was outside and caught up with him there.

omg I just only found out who's son they are subhanAllah! (bit delayed)

My heart literally sunk. May Allah make it easy on them subhanAllah.

Maybe us sisters can organize to visit the wife or go down to hospital to give support, if they're accepting visitors (it would need to be after 4:30 though)
