Explorer that sounds nice! How do you make it?

muslimah09 I'm impressed by anyone who makes homemade tomato sauce :P

CVM: Garlic prawns are yum! And soooooooooooooo easy to make. I keep a pack of frozen prawns in the freezer usually from when they are on sale.

I made koosa bi laban today. But we ate @ my in laws - fasouliya. The last time I made koosa was 5 years ago approx and it turned out nice.

Nah love, not fried. This shouldn't be fried, it's the healthy version.

    Mercimek Köftesi
    Lentil Kofte

    You’ll need:

    • 1 cup red lentils; washed & drained
    • 1 cup bulgur; washed & drained
    • ½ cup sunflower oil
    • 1 large onion; chopped
    • 1 tbsp tomato paste
    • 2 tbsp cumin
    • ½ tbsp salt
    • 1 lemon juice
    • ½ cup parsley; chopped

    Method:

In a med pot, pour 2 ½ cups of water and set the temp to low heat. Add the lentils. That’ll slowly cook on the low heat. When there’s a little bit of water remaining, add the bulgur. Stir and continue cooking until all the water has evaporated. Cover lid and place aside.

In another med pot, sauté the onions with sunflower oil. Once golden and translucent, add all the remaining ingredients including the lentil and bulgur mixture (apart from parsley) Cook on low heat while stirring (this will help it from sticking to the bottom)

Once you see the mixture looking abit doughy like, take off heat. Cover with lid and put aside (1 hour should be fine) Once rested, mix in the parsley using your hands. Shape them like I have in the picture above and slightly squeeze them with your finger to give them a nice shape/look.

Keep refrigerated for an hour and serve with lettuce and lemon on the side.

    ________________________________________________

This was my first time making it, sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right. I'd add crushed garlic to give it that extra taste next time inshaAllah. Also don't forget to taste, if you think it needs more salt add salt.
