Many, many eons ago, a friend of mine bought a large homemade Thai Chicken Pie from their local bakery and it was the best pie I've ever had. MashaAllaah it wasn't chilli at all, but the favors were amazing. I'd imagine a curry chicken pie would be quite good also.

It's kabsah for me today insha Allah. Will be using lamb chops, so it's probably going to end up being of the heavier tasting variety. That's fine though because I'm not eating all that much at a time these days anyway.

Certainly, but I'm freestyling it tbh.

I'm only making two cups of rice with a packet of lamb chops that contains approx six pieces including bones, so not really a large quantity of meat.

I didn't measure quantities, but I'll give approximate values.

4 cups of water (for 2 cups of rice)
    1 teaspoon of turmeric.
1 teaspoon of cinnamon along with three cinnamon sticks.
Around 1.5 teaspoons of cumin powder (I had to crush cumin seeds for this because I ran out of powder)
    Salt as you see fit.
    1 teaspoon of allspice
    two dried lemons
some cardamon pods (around ten of them)
    some cloves (same)
A mini can of tomato paste
At least one teaspoon of garlic (crushed)

As for the rice, I'm using basmati rice insha Allah.

I'm not adding any oil because the fat from the chops will be enough. Given that is is going to probably be a bit fatty, I'm not going to be eating from it more than a few bites for a meal.

Oh yeah and the way I make it is that I boil the chops for a while with the spices and then add the rice at the end for cooking. If I feel too much of the water evaporated I would add more.

I should of known better that it wouldn't be quality meat, but it was 5:30 and I wasn't home yet and had to think of something easy and quick.

    All done:

It came out very good al hamdulilah. It does have that strong lamb flavor though, and I find people either love that or hate. Personally I love it, but in limited amounts.

I want to make a kabsah inshaa'Allaah. I got a recipe from my bestie's mum ages ago but lost it.. I'll give your recipe a try and see how it goes.

^Yah it came out pretty standard kabsah, but I'm not really an expert on the dish since I've only ever had the one my mom makes, which is similar to this. I had it one other time in a potluck of sorts when I was a kid, and I still remember that one because of how strong it tasted of lamb, which was great until it became overwhelming.

I would add fried onions to the recipe above, and even fresh tomato diced. I forgot the onions and forgot I had a couple of tomatoes in the fridge though, so I ended up not having those in there. Onions are great though, for this, because they tend to absorb the gamy taste a bit.
