It hit me right in the throat which got me coughing, teary and made my nose runny... Not the best impression to make, I must say. That wasn't the first memory me and Brother. have had with that chilli tree, though... No, sir, no it wasn't.
Rofl, that's awesome. I would def not mess with habaneros outside of cooking though, stick with jalapenos. Serranos if you must.

My first experience with it was when I was making a fish curry. I had a really really crimson red one and it was hotter than any orange ones I got later. I cut a tiny piece of it to put in the curry, and I mean tiny. Gave the whole thing a nice buzz. But the thing is, after I cut that piece I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So I just took it and touched the very tip of my tongue with it. Ahh, wasn't so bad. But then the stabbing began. I went to the sink to wash my mouth, face.... huge mistake. Face was on fire x_x

Interesting thing is though, while it hurt my face a lot, and my face was red at the time, just a little bit later it all goes back to normal like nothing happened. No rash or anything.

As for those who suffer from ts;dr syndrome, you may find yourself trying to extract more information from my short and concise post. Let me help you out. You may be wondering why i put from water's name before Nraf's. It's quite simple you see. By putting NRaf first i would have been faced with the dilemma of whether or not i should insert 'an' before his nick. Yes, i know it is to be placed before vowels, and the letter N is quite rightly not a vowel, however, upon pronounciation of the nick we do say 'en-raf' and not 'ner-raf'. See my point? If i had to choose i would have gone with 'an Nraf/from water section', but i didn't want to face the possibility of confusing the audience, or worse than that, publicly being [wrongly?] corrected [hence embarrassing the one who dared to speak], or readers quietly shaking their head thinking i had made an error and thinking ill of my choice of word, though i believe myself to be right.

As for the listing of the food, it was automatic, but later realised it was placed in order of importance. Genius I am!

Ever since I tried non-halal chicken kiev at a restaurant once yearssss ago, I've been wanting to have it again (but halal). Can you post the recipe so I can make it sometime, inshaAllah?

    Sorrrry *Blames baby brain*

The book is titled : "THE CULINARY HERITAGE OF LEBANON" and its by CHEF RAMZI

It is my favourite recipe book because he actually goes to each town in Lebanon and learns/records the dishes as made by the locals in that town.

Found the Tseya recipe in the book, dunno if it comes out soggy I do not eat the stuff, I much prefer 'Fatteh' with chicken n mince its way yummier, I would assume omitting the 'cooking water' would def help, the chickpeas retain a lot of moisture and would be quite soggy on their own..

What does adding bicarb to soaking and cooking chickpeas do?

Looking online, it's said that bicarb reduces the soaking / cooking time.

Tonight I made fish biryani on the fly (used tilapia). Some ingredients missing, but it should taste better than it looks hopefully. Still didn't try it, it's hot and I'm kinda not hungry due to headache >__>

Notice little cardamon pods in there. I do spare the little guys in some dishes, really depends when it comes to removing them.

I cooked and ate fish for the first time yesterday. I've had bites of fish before but yesterday was the first time I actually forced myself to finish a dish with fish in it. Given that I cooked it, I was more willing to eat it (not sure why, but that's just how I am) to completion.

It was a barrumundi fillet. I cooked it with salt and pepper on the stove served with a simple sauce made from butter, lemon, salt and basil (dot made the sauce following a recipe I gave her). Fish was served with some mixed greens, brown rice and a tomato salad. dot has the pictures on her phone.

To be honest, I was quite upset with the dish (except for the tomato salad).

Fish is one of those things im really fussy about. I can't eat really fishy smelling types of fish. Snapper is a very meaty fish that doesn't have a strong odour or taste, u should of tried that first. ususally used in siyadiyeh (fish rice) that your mum might of made. Only other fish I eat is the flake fish I think its called hake? And prawns, and the scallops without the row, other than that, I gag @ any other fish.

Last week I made a Malaysia Penang beef Curry which called for shrimp paste. Was so awful that I couldn't eat it.

Fish is very interesting. There are those that eat it, they live by it, then there are those that are not used to it at all, that would be people like us. See, I too grew up not going near fish, and even now I regard seafood with some degree of apprehension though I do eat a variety of it.

It really depends on the fish though, some fish is "fishy" while other kinds are not. I personally do not like it fishy at all, and that kind of taste in fish bothers me, but in Malaysia where they eat lots of seafood, a lot of the dishes are cooked in a way considered good though they do have the fishy taste.

But even good fish like tilapia, salmon, or mahi mahi, it still has a special kind of taste. While it's not at all offensive, at least to me, it's still a special taste you don't get from other kinds of meat.

The reason I started eating fish though is because it's the best meat. High in protein, low in fat, very soft and easy to digest, and that latter quality of softness is mentioned in the Qur'aan, so it's a very good kind of food. Keep exploring, I suggest tilapia, very unoffensive taste on that.

Edit: Subhaan Allah Najah, such a similar post before I finished writing mine >__>

After having some leftover wholemeal pasta and some tomato salad for lunch, I'm now sitting down to a large mug of oolong and cinnamon tea.
