How funny! I just finished left over wholemeal pasta and tomato salad and am about to tuck into some tea!
We're so cool, NRaf.
I am making Raw kale avocado salad (side dish) and sticky date pudding (dessert) tonight inshaAllah.
Main meal NRaf requested I don't tell him but it involves minced lamb.
It also involves........
....
.......

MashaAllah that Lebanese sesame date cake looks superb! Is it ma'moul madd?
Here's NRaf's fish dish with tomato salad from yeterday:

MashaAllah the fish was well cooked, but the sauce was a bit bland (I made the sauce
). The tomato salad was very nice though
.
This here be my Moroccan meatballs with couscous dish that we had for dinner tonight, along with the kale salad with avocado (both very VERY yummy mashaAllah).
I was procrastinating a lot today with the cooking, so I didn't get to make the sticky date pudding again unfortunately. But the yummy food made up for it, highly recommend the salad
.

Moroccan lamb meatballs with couscous (edit: I added some hot chilli powder at the end before taking it off the flames)
and
Raw kale and avocado salad (I added pine nuts on top)
Bon appetit

Kale was really epic, as were the meatballs, mashaAllah. dot chopped up the leaves a lot finer than the recipe specified. The taste of the avocado wasn't really apparent. It tasted almost like tabbouli without the bulghur. It was pretty epic.
I brined and grilled a couple of chicken breasts last night to bring to work today. I'm going to have it with some lightly sauteed kale leaves (left over from the salad), the kale salad and the tomato salad.
*is excited for lunch*

I just love how awkward it looks after we've seen the other one. Every single thing about it says "I did not sign up for this..." or "what... what am I doing here?".
As for me, still have lots of biryani left over. Also, cookies........ don't usually do that, but I wanted cookies after a long eventful day.

made some vegie soup today. Basically celery, carrot, string beans all cut up small. Fresh parsley and coriander, garlic and peppercorns crushed. Salt and pepper to taste and of course crushed tomatoes. turned out nice even if I do say so myself!

Currently making Chicken Jalfrezi, but it's going to be a while.
In the meantime I tried something totally new today. Organic non-homogenized milk. I would just like to say that I regard many dairy products, especially cheese, with apprehension that practically borders on phobia. But it went well, I shook it extremely well before pouring, and it was normal. Quite normal, a bit yellower in color though. Felt it to be a little less thick too, interesting. Tastewise it's slightly different than organic homogenized, but it's not at all bad. I smelled it, it did not smell cheesy at all and in fact had no smell whatsoever, always a good sign.
Yup I don't think I'll be getting homogenized anymore in that case.

I have been craving Burger King for a while now so I decided to just make homemade burgers. They were delicious! Kept it simple, melted the cheese on the meat, and just put mayo, ketchup, onion, tomatoe and lettuce in the bun. They didn't survive long enough for me to take a photo lol.

Last night me and my wife went to a Turkish restaurant called Ashkim that was owned by a Turkish brother from Ankara. Because most of the restaurants in Langkawi are outdoor, all we could hear when we got out of the car was Sa'd al-Ghamidi reciting, alhamdulillaah was very relaxing. This place had very good reviews so we decided to give it a crack.
The brother was very friendly mashaAllaah. Because he was from Ankara, which was close to the bordr of Syria, he also spoke perfect Arabic mashaAllaah. He said he ued to be one of the best chefs back home in turkey and his food is as close to home as you will find. I had the Iskender and my wife had the Chicken Sheesh and mashaAllaah they were both incomparable to anything we've ever had in Melbourne. Flavours were amazing mashaAllaah. But the Iskender mashaAllaah was one of those "OMG I can't believe food could taste to good" kinda dishes lol It put any Iskender in Melbourne, including Roxy Kebabs to absolute shame! The lamb wasn't wasn't off a spit, instead he cut them into thin tender slices and marinated thet them with some spices I've never tasted before. But the highlight was he tomato sauce he had on it. I think he had a bit of onion and capsicum (not sure exactly, was too busy enjoying it to look lol) in it and mashaAllaah was just that good. I guess it's true what they say, the best Iskender is in Turkey. But the second best is in Malaysia lol
Turns out the guys brother and son live in Melbourne and own a few jewellery shops in Broady plaza. His family settled in Melbourne and Sydney in the 60s but he recently left to start this business. Small world subhaanAllaah. Very nice and friendly brother"...The eyes are filled with tears and the heart is full of grief but we do not say anything except that which is pleasing to our lord.."
