Have to agree that borat sucks though, hate that guy. I hope he catches fire or something.

But yeah, um, food. It's yummy, a lot of the time. Yesterday I had a fish called mahi mahi for the first time and it was good, al hamdulilah.

Tbh I do have to cook soon. I have ground beef and chicken, and all kinds of spices. Last things I made were a kind of spicy chicken curry, then I made biryani twice. I'm done with those dishes for now, and I really want something Arabic for once. Might go for one of those Lebanese rice/meat dishes that have random nuts and stuff thrown in with pees or something insha Allah.

i bought 'ayam' fish sauce from coles, the smell of it was disgusting let alone the taste, totally ruined my soup i might go to an asian grocery and buy one from there.

najahs post made me feel like tacos, ive only eaten it once years ago so i gave the chilli con carne burrito a shot, was nice, the sour cream with the meat was the best.

gunna use the rest of the sour cream tomorrow inshaAllah when i make my fav... baked jacket potatoes stuffed with herbed butter, coleslaw, beetroot, corn, grated cheese and sour cream

Golden Boy (I think that's the name) fish sauce is considered the best from what I read. It has like a golden boy on the front lol.

That's weird, I thought Fasolya was an Afghan word, we call green beans fasolya:

I think it originates (the word) from Greece. Although all the languages of the CIS (Russian, Uzbek, Kazakh, Ukranian etc.) all call beans Fasouli or Fasouliya/e. The dish itself has no name that I am aware of just "beans" in English lol. Although I could be wrong.

    Read this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasolada

Found it intresting that so many culture cook the exact same dish!

^but that's white beans in the Wiki article isn't it? We call green beans fasolya.
But if they're the same, I guess I wouldn't be surprised, we just cook it differently.

We fry onion, garlic and ginger in some oil, then add a bit of tomato or tomato paste let it fry a bit, then add the fasolya, cover the lid and let it cook on high then simmer a bit on low and that's it, we don't add other vegetables like carrot or anything and it's not made into a soup or stew.

The green beans in Lebo talk is called lubyeh. I've had it that way before sister, minus the ginger, and it's really nice mashaa'Allaah.

Yeh we make that too but its Greek food called Fasoulakia, not Uzbek. All these countries have very very similar food from Greece to Russia/Central Asia, Middle East and Afghanistan etc. Very similar. and so so tasty Mashallah!

We call it fasulye aswell (different spelling- the green and the beans)

I'm making lasagna (was tossing up between shepherds pie) soup, rice, salad.
