oops that wasn't all spice it was 7 spices (an arab spice mix i think - got it from the butcher in those little packets). it's probably the same thign but should clarify. hardly used much though. if you don't have it the main smell i get from it is cinnamon so i would just put a pinch of ground cinnamon.

I had to have nausea and no appetite when I was in Malaysia so couldn't even enjoy the food much which totally defeates the purpose in my head of going to Malaysia!

Dude don't talk about Malaysia where I can see, I haven't yet gotten over my withdrawal symptoms!

I think the restaurant you are referring to Najah is Box on Collins?

Reminds me of the know-it-all Hindu Indian tour guide in Malaysia who has an opinion on everything. Since I don't really like seafood (although I'm starting to accept prawns and did eat a little fish in Malaysia) and Dot is quite particular in what sort of seafood she eats, we requested if we could change the seafood restaurant that was scheduled as part of the tour.

We ended up going to a North Indian place. We're both enjoy and are pretty familiar with Indian food (given that most of the dishes I cook tend to be Indian). Anyway, the guy continues being a know-it-all about the food even after I explain that I'm familiar with Indian cooking which is fair enough, I 'spose, given that he's of Indian origin. The grating part was when he started to explain in detail to us how we're meant to eat with bread... Apparently you use the bread to scoop up the food or dip into the gravy without the use of any cutlery. Thanks dude, we didn't know that.

Nraf lol but I think you'll find that many people who visit are clueless about simple things so they are always explaining this type of stuff to them. He is probably on auto-pilot.

It is just wrong to not devour seafood in Malaysia. Have you tried lobster? That is one super seafood.

Najah, It was Melba at the Langham. It is not A seafood place but I remember it had a wide selection of seafood (seafood buffet) Masha'Allah it's one of the best restaurants I have been to, and I have been to many seafood buffet's because my family are seafood addicts Masha'Allah. You can create your own sushi, stir fry's etc... For obvious reasons*price*, attend only on special occasions lol

Sister. thats why I'm going back in October InshaAllah (thankyou Airasia!) I loved it so much, this time will be a bit diff cause I'm going with a toddler but we are going for a while so enough time to take it easy InshaAllah. I don't like to do the same thing twice, like I would never see a movie twice in the cinemas or rent it twice for example, but Malaysia, how can I not! Remember eating bbq'd tiger prawns in Langkawi. MashaAllah was yum!!!

I could visit Malaysia every year and not get bored... all I need is the food.. yum. And with the prices that air asia does deals sometimes its way cheaper to fly there and book a hotel than it is to drive in australia and book a hotel. And there are all different parts of Malaysia too that make it interesting rather than just KL or one island.

Malaysia isn't expensive! who said that?! it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want - it all depends on your taste for e.g. if you only like eating in 5 star restaurants then it will be expensive. I happen to love street food

Sister. I hear there is some awesome coconut juice in Malaysia - did you by any chance happen to come across any?

Najwa you heard wrong sis Our dollar is fantastic there MashaAllah!

We didn't eat street food, at pretty much at restaurants or from shopping centres and it was still very cheap. They werent fancy restaurants, but places like TGIF or Malaysian restaurants, Indian places. If you get cheap flights its cheaper to travel to there than it is to book a hotel or travel around Aust like fatima said. Goign to somewhere like Phillip Island for a couple of days will cost u nearly $500!

Im like fatima, could go every year!
