Iva I honestly would never go again when pregnant. I mean I really needed the break at the time so it was good for me but that was mainly because I had my parents there and they took care of my other kids most of the time so I could rest. The heat combined with the lack of appetite just wrecks the trip for you. I can't handle heat at the best of times let alone when pregnant. But it was basically a free trip for me lol so still great alhamdulillah. Kids loved it though - can't wait to take them when they are a little bit older inshallah and can remember it more too and go to some of the theme parks etc.

lol Najah I found it so funny when I read the info folder they have in the hotel rooms and it would say 'Guests are not permitted to bring durian into their hotel rooms'.

Yes if only my mum had read that little piece of important information before she went and brought some from the supermarket. Our room stank for ages. Trying to cover it up with perfume just made matters worse! lol

I found that durian itself wasn't very tasty, to say the least, but I liked durian favoured ice cream and durian chocolate was nice.

I love the taste of Durian, it has a unique creamy taste. the smell on the other hand is a different story.

First time I make Biryani in a long time, and it turned out well al-hamdulilah. It was def undercooked an hour and ten minutes in cuz I was using a new pot, so I had to raise the heat on it for 20 more minutes and it came out just right.

I don't really follow a recipe per se, I just make it with what I know to be my favorite spices. It's based on the Hyderbadi Mutton or chicken Biryani recipe which can be found in many places online. I don't use food coloring though, I used turmeric and saffron to get the color.

There's a lot of ingredients that usually go into this that I didn't use, like mace, or red chili powder. The most important thing to have in there though is yogurt to mix the spices in and marinate the chicken, and I like to use milk with that too. That makes all the difference.

I didn't add rosewater because I don't have any, but adding a bit of that does bring out a very nice taste as I've recently found out.
