    Assalamu Alaikum,

I did a quick search and couldn't find a similar thread. Basically, post any interesting facts that you have come across and would like to share. If it's not true I'm sure there would be somebody to politely refute it

If it's something that you've read from the internet, then it would be good if you can name a source.

    Rules:

    - Nothing inappropriate (I'll leave the definition of inappropriate to you).

    - Nothing relating to religious groups or factions that is provocative.

    I'll kick it off:

Did you know that Agarwood/Aloeswood/'Oud in its purest form is worth more than gold by weight?

Agarwood is a resinous wood that sometimes occurs in trees belonging to the Aquilaria genus, Thymelaeceae family. Aquilaria is a fast-growing, archaic tropical forest tree, which occurs in South and Southeast Asia, from the foothills of the Himalayas to the rainforests of Papua New Guinea.

Resinous wood is used as incense, for medicinal purposes, and pure resin in distilled form is used as perfume and perfume component.

    Value

The value of first-grade Agarwood is extremely high. A whole range of qualities and products is on the market varying with geographical location and cultural deposition. Prices range from a few dollars per kilo for the lowest quality to over thirty thousand US dollars for top quality oil and resinous wood. Aquilaria crassna is listed as an endangered species in Viet Nam, and A. malaccensis is listed as endangered by the World Conservation Union, IUCN.

walaikum assalaam, there was a thread like this that Khaled started once and someone mentioned there was already another thread like it and after that nobody posted on the thread lol so inshaAllah this thread keeps going.

This one is one I remember off the top of my head, I'll source it when I get time to look for the source - out of all the senses, smell is the most closely linked to memory. This explains why certain smells trigger specific and detailed memories. Cool, na?
Whoever remembers death often will find a small amount (of worldly things) sufficient for him; and whoever includes his speech in his deeds will speak little.

Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful. (Surat al Isra': 27)

Thanks for the heads up sister, if the mods think there are enough of these threads around they will close it.

I've actually read about what you said about the senses and I think it's pretty cool, when you go through it in detail makes you want to say Subhan'Allah

If you make intense supplication and the timing of the answer is delayed, do not despair of it. His reply to you is gauranteed; but in the way He chooses, not the way you choose, and at the moment He desires, not the moment you desire.

Half the people in Australia have below average IQ.

P.S. It is a riddle masquerading as a fact.

Did you know it takes roughly 60,000 (sixty thousand) roses to extract 1 ounce (30ml) of rose oil?

**goes and sniffs his various rose oils**

An average person’s yearly fast food intake will contain 12 pubic hairs.

    that's sooo sickening

It has been scientifically proven that stroking a cat can lower one's blood pressure!

Did you verify if it was true sister?

A lot of these facts that float around the internet are nothing but the musings of people who have nothing better to do with their time.

I am yet to see that child who was supposed to be helped by this wonderful person who donates 1 dollar for every time that chain letter was forwarded.

There's some fun stuff here: http://www.ripleys.com/

Have a look at this guy and this woman.

Did you know that the spider web ( Ankaboot) is the weakest of all homes?

“Brain diseases usually hit one chamber and stop in other areas. The brain is trying to grasp the universe and breaks up atoms into pieces. We usually use 51 percent of our brains in decision making. It is only when we are in love that we give it our 100 percent. This is chemical agreement. Sometimes just one look is like lightning striking. The hundred billion cells of the brain do not know what to do. One forgets everything. One cell goes for it, and billions of others just follow it.”
