assalamu alaikum
A sister known to a number of us has been going through an ordeal that none of us would want to face - being seperated from her young children in a different country for over two years. As a mother myself, I honestly can't imagine much worse to go through for a parent.
Please donate to the following account and we will send the funds to the sister asap. Her funds have been used up by lawyers and she needs the money for airline tickets to bring her children home insha'Allah.
[mod: funds for the sister will no longer be collected into our account.]
This account is only currently being used for this donation appeal. If you wish to paypal funds please PM me.
There is a FB page - please pass it onto others and it contains info as well and you can contact the sister through there.

To uote some info on the page:
may Allah SWT reunite her with her children uickly.Married in Australia, 2 Australian parents went on a working holiday to Saudi Arabia. When their marriage broke down a bitter dispute started in Saudi court. Under Saudi law their father took custody of the children but they stayed with their mother 3 days a week. Saudi Courts demanded the father transfer the mothers sponsorship to her employer but the father refused. Through continual appeals to King Abdullah Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud about her ex-husband refusal to comply with court orders to transfer her sponsorship an order was issued for all parties, including the mother, father and children to be deported from Saudi Arabia and returned to Australia so that the custody issues between all of these Australians could be sorted out in Australia. In a shocking turn of events the mother was sent out and her children were taken from her in January 2010. But the King's wise order still stands and since June 2011 the father is in Saudi prison facing charges and awaiting deportation. Sadly this leaves the 3 Australian children without parents- alone in a foreign land. The mother was granted custody of the children in Australian court and the court demanded the children's return to Australia. This page is an appeal to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs to take action and see that these Australian Children are now returned to Australia without delay. Mr. Kevin Rudd, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia, this is no longer a custody dispute in Saudi court this is now a deportation matter and a serious welfare concern for 3 Aussies who need to be brought home to their country!

I'm only asking for information, not being mean to the sister's troubles or suggesting no one help her.
Isn't there some sort of a provision in the law where the Australian Embassy should help them out, and send them back to Australia, specially since an Australian court has demanded such? Or do they simply not care because they are Muslims? The government doesn't even have to pick up the bill really. They can just bring the children in and arrange something to fix up the costs locally with the mother, like take it out of her super fund or something or slap a loan or something on her.
And who are the children living with if the father's in jail and the mother's in Australia? Relatives, friends?
This whole story is insane (from the courts' points of view in both countries).
Again, I'm just trying to get my head around "the system" and not suggesting anything mean towards the children or their parents.

Abu Coburg: If you go to the FB page, the sister mentioned that the Aus Govt won't provide financial help to bring them home. She can apply afterwards to get some of it reimbursed by the attorney general but even then it's not certain it will actually happen. There is a lot more info on the FB page from answers to people's uestions that might be useful for anyone wanting to know more. the department of foreign affairs wants it paid up front.
I'm not sure who the kids are with at the moment (you can ask on her FB page inshalah) and yes the story is insane but not that unfamiliar to some of the mothers whose kids have been taken by fathers in Saudi (and other gulf countries).
Our govt is more than happy to help convicted young druggies in Bali but not Muslim kids in Saudi who need to come home.
Naj - I'm thinking one or two weeks inshallah probably two. Whatever is donated will be given to her and please pass it around to others.Al-Hasan al-Basri said of hypocrisy: No one fears it but a believer, and no one feels safe from it but a hypocrite.

May Allah SWT reward you Fatima for your efforts and for bringing this to our attention.
Just the thought of being separated from your children made me well up with tears.

There's $481 that's been raised for the sister at this point in time, Alhumdulillaah. We will continue collected funds until Wednesday inshaa'Allaah. We don't really have a set amount, but if we can get it to $1000 then I'm sure it would be of great help to the sister and her family.

A total of $619 has been raised for the sister, Alhumdulillaah. Not sure if anyone transferred any money through today, so if they did it won't show up in the account for up to 3 days. I will keep an eye on the account in case there are any funds that are yet to be cleared.
I will be removing my account details from this thread, if anyone wishes to donate from here on in, you can directly deposit into the sister's account, which aussiemu will provide us with inshaa'Allaah.
for your generosity. May Allaah will compensate you all with something better, Ameen.
