    Assailant Alaikum,

Can anyone recommend a good curry powder? I remember someone once mentioning a brand called Babas but haven't been able to find it anywhere.

I buy mine from the indian grocery store. no specific brand for me. There is different types such as madras but I just buy a general one.

Baba's is available at some asian grocery stores. From memroy, it's more geared towards malaysian etc curries.

Where is memroy? Never heard of it.

Yeah I'm going to use it to make a Malaysian curry so Babas would be good. Anyone know where I can get it from?

Lol I think she meant 'from memory'?

Babas is the one I use and it's available only at the Asian grocers. It's in a dark green packet

I'm not sure if the MH one has it. I never looked for it there so never paid attention. The MH one is a Vietnamese store inside the Meadow Heights shopping center where IGA is (just off paringa blvd from memory). It's right next door to MH IGA.

Khalid go to Dalton spices on high st, u turn right at the end of your st, heading towards my house, its across the road. its at the end of the small strip of shops, first shop is atlas books, then the shop is at the end, u can't miss it. Kinda next to the restaurant called the secret.

    A bit after centrelink.

When you go in ask them for it cause some of their curry powders are all over the place.

RECIPE FOR EASY MALAYSIAN CHICKEN CURRY
    (from Iva's blog)
    http://inmystudio.com.au/2011/10/22/...chicken-curry/

    Serves: 3
    Prep time: 15 mins
    Cook time: 30 mins

    Ingredients

1/2 kilo chicken, cut into small pieces (with bones)
    1 medium onion, finely sliced
    1 cinnamon stick
    2 cardamom pods
    2 cloves
    1 medium tomato, quartered (optional)
    1/3 cup coconut milk
2-3 tbsp Baba’s curry powder (I like mine really hot so I use 5 tbsp)
    2 cups water
    1 tsp sugar
    salt to taste
    4 tbsp oil

    Method

    1. Heat oil and sautee onions in a medium size pot. Add all the spices and tomato and fry until fragrant for about 5 mins.

    2. Add the curry powder, chicken and water and cook on a medium heat for 15 mins.

    3. Pour in the coconut milk and stir until well combined.

    4. Season well with sugar and salt then simmer for another 10 minutes or so.

    5. Serve with rice or pratha(roti/bread).
