he probably is pro bashaar, but I think hes right in that not all of syria is affectd. I have a friend whose sister lives in syria, and she said that she sees what we see on tv, but cant fathom that its actually happening, because where she lives its still quite safe. like her daughters can still go to school, and life is pretty normal. Even though she said she can sometimes hear the bombings etc

We also had a syrian pizza guy that knocked on our door (i think he was a shiite) and when my husband asked him what he thinks of the situation he just brushed it aside n said things are just heavily blown out of proportion and the situation on the ground is nothing like what we're seeing on tv. He pretty much said nothing is going on!!!!

Yeah that's the same as my family, can't say anything. They probably are listening in too.

As for the Christian, yeah they benefited during bashaar's rule, as everyone who isn't Muslim does with our leaders.

I met a shiite on my campus who was like "well you know, it's blown out of proportion, times like these it's really hard to see who's really being wronged...". I was with my friend at the time and he just interrupts him and was like "no it's clear" and the guy was intimidate and left. Only reason he even talked to us was because my friend happened to call my name this guy was walking past, and my name is a typical shiite one, so this guy's face, I kid you not, lit up like a light bulb and he just materialized in front of me to shake my hand. At the time I just thought he was a random Muslim brother, and I wanted to introduce my friend, I don't even think he looked at him as I was saying his name. Weirdos man, they're delusional, eat up propaganda like cake and they're programmed to just accept it without question.

Actually you guys just reminded me as well, my uncles wife has family in syria too, not sure where exactly they live, but when they spoke to them they told them that there's nothing going on as well, nothing is being told on the news.

My mums friend is syrian, when her friend called her family in syria to warn them whats happenign and to escape quickly to Lebanon, they to had no idea what's going on, and when they escaped their homes, they realised it was actually happening when they were on the streets and saw dead bodies everywhere. If they had stayed, they would have been killed as well, but alhamdillah they managed to get to Lebanon.

I thought all of Syria was affected?? :/

Halba is in Lebanon, I think you mean Halab yeah? As far as I know, the town of Halab is not part of the revolution so it would be safer there. Halab's been getting bagged by the people I'm linked to on facebook because the majority of them are not joining the revolution

Halab aka Aleppo is one of the most effected towns. People don't know that Halab in English is Aleppo cause they don't sound anything alike..

    From FSA -

The 'Zero Hour' has been gaining a lot of publicity over the past week with many of the known activists inside Syria sending a message to the whole of Syria to be ready for the moment when the Zero Hour is announced. It involves every citizen to leave what they're are doing & head to the nearest square in their cities, towns & villages. Every soldier will be given the chance to defect. The Syrian people are prepared to die for their freedom & they know that this could possibly cause a big bloodbath, but they have exhausted all possibilities. We either die or we gain freedom!!!

opps sorry, yes i meant Halab. At times, I sometimes wish I was a man and can go over there to join the FSA. I would have thought that all the men in Halab would help out in some way and not just sit there and watch

Halab is definitely part of the revolution sis. But they were attacked more earlier on in the uprising. Alhamdulillaah the FSA has battalions in every corner in Syria. InshaAllaah victory will be with the Muslims

As we speak, Military reinforcements have arrived in Mu'athamiya (Damascus suburbs) and an arresting campaign is going on, snipers are still shooting in Homs and many more news is arriving from many areas of this so-called cease-fire.

Lebanon’s Salafists renew support for the uprising in Syria

Assir is escorted by his supporters during the protest in Wadi Khaled.

BEIRUT: Salafist preachers voiced support Sunday for the yearlong Syrian uprising against President Bashar Assad at a rally in the northern region of Wadi Khaled near the border with Syria.

During the rally organized by the Salafist movement in Lebanon under the slogan of “Supporting the Syrian People’s Revolution” in Wadi Khaled, speakers, including Sidon-based controversial Salafist Sheikh Ahmad Assir, called for solidarity with Syrian protesters demanding Assad’s ouster.

Assir lambasted what he called “those who failed to come to the rescue of the Syrian revolution.”

“As long as there are activist members [protesters], we do not fear for the revolution,” Assir said. A harsh critic of the Assad regime, Assir has organized rallies in Sidon and in central Beirut to show solidarity with anti-regime protesters since the uprising began in Syria in March last year.

Sheikh Dai al-Islam al-Shahhal, founder the Salafist movement in Lebanon, called on Muslim movements and parties to support the Syrian people in their revolt against the regime.

Addressing Muslim groups and parties, Shahhal said: “Unite so your efforts do not go in vain. Your unity is needed under these circumstances so that you can support the rebels in Syria.”

The rally was also attended by a delegation from Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya led by Mohammad Hosher, the group’s Akkar chief, and Sheikh Haitham Rifai.

Delivering Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya’s speech, Rifai said: “In the name of the Muslim Brotherhood in the world, we have come here to the blessed Wadi Khaled bin al-Walid ... We are close to Homs, [the city] of manhood and heroism. We salute the youth who are today taking a stance of pride in the face of oppressors and tyrants.”

Addressing rebels in Syria, he said: “We stand in front of you and behind you on the border to protect you against those oppressors.”

i heard the syrian soldiers shoot refugees in turkeys border. Is UN pushing turkey and iran to go in syria. Whats UN's benefit out of this, why they want Turkey and Iran to go in Syria. Is it a part of their plan or game played on muslims again.

Ceasefire is no existent. Today 2 toddlers were shot dead in Homs. Battalion of Aleppo has been established and have given their pledge of allegiance to the FSA. Second in charge of Al-Farouq battalion, Waleed Al Abdullah has fallen very I'll and is not partaking in combat. Not sure what's wrong with him but they say it's serious. Please dua for him to make a speedy recovery.

Also, there is currently a massive ship which is believed to b carrying Iranian weapons to Tartous. InshaAllaah this is not the case.

Today I have discovered another outlet for donating to Syrian refugees in Jordan, and wallahu a`lam this looks to be better than Islamic Relief as they have a 100% donations policy where every penny you donate goes straight to the people.

    Their site:

    http://www.uwt.org/site/default.asp

    Their page for Syria:

    http://www.uwt.org/site/appeal.asp?id=693

A youtube video of a brother showing what they give (may Allah reward them):

A few days ago, Jordanian officials seized 5.3 Million Riyal and weapons that were intended for the FSA via smuggling it on the borders.

Report: German ship halted with weapons for Syria

BERLIN — The German government says it's looking into a report that weapons bound for the Syrian regime were loaded onto a German-owned ship.

Der Spiegel weekly reported Saturday the Atlantic Cruiser was halted in the Mediterranean after its owners were warned it was suspected to be carrying Iranian military equipment to Tartus, Syria.

Der Spiegel quoted shipping agent Torsten Lueddeke of Hamburg-based C.E.G. Bulk Chartering as saying: "We stopped the ship after we received information on the weapons cargo."

He said the ship was chartered to Ukraine-based White Whale Shipping, and they said the ship was carrying pumps and similar equipment.

Neither C.E.G. nor the ship's owner were immediately reachable. The German Economy Ministry said it looks into all suspected embargo breaches but didn't yet have details of the case.
