I received a phone call tonight regarding a sister who's husband passed away around a month ago. Although she's been able to live on a day to day basis Alhumdulillaah with the dire necessities, there's a $7000 debt that's been left on her shoulders. It was a lot more than this, but as her and her husband started practising a few years back, they were able to pay most of it off. Now that he's gone, and she's struggling as it is with not much of an income coming through, and with a lack of family to help her out, I thought we could try and raise as much money as possible to get rid of as much of this debt as we possibly can.
Alhumdulillaah we've all been given health and wealth, and the opportunity to help out in these situations, so let's make the most out of this and earn as many rewards as we possibly can.
“The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allaah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allaah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allaah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower." (Al-Baqarah, 261)
The account details to donate into are:
[mod: Alhumdulillaah the money has been raised and we are no longer collecting donations]
A note also that one of the categories of people who can receive zakat are those who have a debt.
A reminder that the bank account has been opened as a spare account specifically setup for donations. If anyone wants to pay via paypal, please PM me.
May Allaah relieve this sister of her debts and may He have mercy on us all.
wassalamu alaykum

On the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who said, ” Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from a difficulty of the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslims, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the Hereafter. Allah is helping the servant as long as the servant is helping his brother. Whoever follows a path in order to seek knowledge thereby, Allah will make easy doe him, due to it, a path to Paradise. No people gather together in a house of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descended upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them and Allah makes mention of them to those in His presence. Whoever is slowed by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage.” (Recorded in Muslim)

Alhamdulillah. It is for this reason alone that I don't close the forum when I've had enough
may Allah SWT reward everyone who has helped out and those who intended and those who will do so until we raise the $7000
Al-Hasan al-Basri said of hypocrisy: No one fears it but a believer, and no one feels safe from it but a hypocrite.

You guys are amazing mashaa'Allaah tabaarak'Allaah.
Alhumdulillaah we have raised $7,810 for the sister. I know it's $810 more than what she needed, but I will give this extra money to her as a gift inshaa'Allaah to ease up her affairs a little over the coming month or two. May Allaah reward everyone involved, those who donated, and those who wanted to donate but couldn't, and all those who made du'a for her. It's amazing what we can all achieve when we come together. Alhumdulillaah for all of His blessings.
wassalamu alaykum

MashaAllah thats so heart warming to see our brothers and sisters helping out their sister in need, it truly is beautiful MashaAllah. Without knowing 100% what this sister's circumstances are, those who helped out did in whatever way they could. Imagine how much this will help the sister especially during this tough time she is facing! MashaAllah!
