salam alaikum folks. This poem is about Trablous ash-Shaam a.k.a Tripoli of the Sham (Levantine, you know what I mean) a.k.a the city in North Lebanon where my father hails from.
There's been war there on and off for ages, as is the case with most of our Muslim lands.
Lately, the Nusayris (proper term for Alawi sect) there have been upset with the Sunnis for protecting Syrian refugees protesting, they are firing and the Sunnis are hitting back and it's becoming heavier. The Nusayris are strategically located in one district in Tripoli called Jabal Muhsin (Muhsin literally means good-doer) which is just a street that is uphill and lets them be in favour geographically. On either side of them, positioned downhill is Bab el-Tabbaneh and on the other side the Qubbeh/Ibbeh.
Tripoli has a rich history and it came a long way from irreligious people/Communists to now being the Salafi capital of Lebanon and many people donning beards and niqab mashaAllah. What I love is in their protests that they do nearly every day for Syria, they hold the flag of La Ilaha Illa Allah and no sign of the cedar flag that Sykes-Picot drew up.
Anyway this poem is praising Tripoli, it is in Arabic but rough translation is underneath.
Disclaimer: It is in no way above the other Muslim lands nor should one feel pride or arrogance about coming from there. It's just to praise the goodness that is appearing there compared to what it used to be in the 60s.
Also, there might be Arabic mistakes. I've tried to make it rhyme without focusing on grammatical nuances.
Presenting... Trabloush ash-Shaam.

Rough translation:
You carried the burden of the one was kicked out of his land
you opened your door for the one who was oppressed in his country
you wiped the blood off his son's cheek
the Nusayri hated you because you rejected his authority
he accused you of terrorism because you helped his enemy
indeed, his enemy are unarmed people of their nation
You threw away the flag of racism that was drawn by Sykes-Picot
You raised the flag "La ilaha Illa Allah wa Muhammad rasuluh"
Allah (azzawajal) took you out of the darkness into His light
You declared monotheism in all of Fayha' (a special name for Tripoli)
Baab at-Tabbaneh, Abu Samra and it's Qubbeh (towns in Tripoli)
Except for Jabal Muhsin, no! it's reality is Mujrim (evil-doer)
Resist and be victorious against his Taghout (falsehood, polytheism, etc)
May Allah honour you for your efforts towards His religion
and protect you for protecting His servants
The pride of Ash-Shaam and the crown on its head
