Al Salamu Alikkum
We are a newly arrived Muslim couple from India with two sons. I am looking to enroll my kids into an Islamic school. I know about King Khalid and Al Siraat. I also hear there is a new school coming up in Craigieburn. Can you give me some advise as to which school is good both academically and Islamically. We are renting in Roxbrough Park

In Dallas, there is Ilim College it is about 3km from Roxburgh Park. There is a Tablighi-run school in Fawkner as well about 10km from Roxburgh Park.
Singapore: oppresses Muslims, bans athaan, bans hijab in schools, prevents building of madrassahs or muslim schools, puts limit on the percentage of Muslims allowed in each apartment building, and bans Muslims from joining Singapore's elite military forces. Singapore; Israel's best buddy!

Ilim is probably the closest and may be the best option academically out of them. It's a decent school. A number of parents here have their kids there. Only problem might be getting the kids in as I think it is generally full. Best to contact them. It is also the closest to Roxburgh Park.
Haven't heard about a new school in Craigieburn. Any idea who is doing that?Al-Hasan al-Basri said of hypocrisy: No one fears it but a believer, and no one feels safe from it but a hypocrite.

wa alaikum assalam sis
if the schools you mentioned won't enrol him due to your visa then there isn't any other schools left that you can try so you may just have to enrol him in a public school. are you able to enrol him at a public school?Al-Hasan al-Basri said of hypocrisy: No one fears it but a believer, and no one feels safe from it but a hypocrite.

It's too expensive for us because only my husband working (casual/part time)
I m not working I m searching job from January2012
But still haven't got any job so this amount is very huge for us Islamic school are working independently that's why I applied there,,,,,,

Salam,
I contacted Ilim college as administrator said, they are not even taking any application for next three years. I haven't heard much response about new school coming up in Craigieburn. Does anyone got any idea about this, i.e. whom to contact etc..

should have gone to US instead, public education is FREE over there.

Talib, public education is free in Australia too.. Islamic schools are not public schools and that is why they have high prices, much like Catholic schools and other non-public schools.

She's not a permanent resident or citizen so I'm guessing she has fees then. But for people living here otherwise it is free.

I don't understand at all. I know a lot of Malaysian students doing post grad degrees & I believe they send their kids to public school. I don't think they are charged that much. The fee Naz has quoted is for International students & not dependent visa student. I think Ilim does not have a licence to enrol International student yet; perhaps they don't see a need as they have enough students on the waiting list. AIA recruits new International students from overseas & that is their aim, that's why they changed their name to AIA.

Naz, go to Darool Ulum & appeal your case. Tell them your story BUT if yr visa does not allow yr child to be treated as a local student, then Darul Ulum may not be able to enrol u if they don't have a license to take in International students. I hope you find a way out.

El Muslima - I think that is only in Prep as the other year levels are full generally. I'm assuming her sons are not in Prep.

Actually, I know of people getting in other grades. Maybe officially that's their stand as there are too many applicants but too few places.
I hear that it is easier to get into darul Ulum , have to persevere.'Surely, my prayer and my sacrifice and my life and my death are (all) for Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin'

Might depend on the year level because one of my friends whose husband started there as a teacher (as they generally get priority) - her kids weren't able to get a place either.

If there are no vacancies, there is nothing they can do about it.
