I've always liked this breed, they have a unique look and are as tough as a tank, and very active. Who knows, might own one someday ...

There are also miniature English Bull Terriers:

I like these dogs too.. But isn't it only permissible to keep dogs for hunting, guarding livestock & crops?

Yeah, they have character. If I ever buy one, I'll train it properly and use it when I go hunting with my bow.

I was also under the impression that some scholars extend the permissibility of keep a dog for protection of one's property; haven't really looked into it though.

You can hunt anything with a well-equipped bow, from small birds and rabbits to large buffalo and moose, but my target will be deer, goat etc.

I have not been out hunting yet, but I am preparing and will go out soon insha'Allah; just need to buy a few stuff and make sight adjustments on my bow.

As I go, I will post updates in the archery thread, insha'Allah.

Yeah, there are plenty of places around this area. Do you hunt?

Oh mashaAllah, with firearms I presume?

How to you deal with the wild boars? Since I won't have guns with me, what would you recommend?

I've seen videos of them being shot numerous times and continue to charge ...

Yeah I use rifles. I have not come across any wild boars anywhere because they usually only attack when your hunting them. A few years ago I seen a couple of people I know who shot a wild boar, they took it home and cooked it on the spit.. I said to them they are crazy eating it, but they all ate it & ended up in hospital with very bad food poisoning..lol

lol, I can't believe they ate it!

So would it be safe to go hunting without a firearm? I mean, I've been told by a hunter that if I miss the boar with my bow, to run. Even if I do hit it, it won't drop dead ...

Depends what your hunting, if hunting deer you need a gun. If anything else a big dog like Rhodesian ridgeback is good and will fight off the wild boars, but dogs will put off deer from kms away...

I see, I'll be hunting dear so dogs are not an option.

I'll be hunting with my brother and I just spoke to him about it and we agreed that at least one of us should obtain our firearms licence as a safety measure.

Definitely get a firearm brother. I doubt you will see any boars, but to be safe carry a rifle & keep a big hunting knife strapped to your leg or belt ready to attack.
Also buy fluorescent hunting clothing as other hunters can identify you, it can get a bit scary as some hunters take a shot at anything! Deer are colorblind so it won't affect them.
I take it your planning on stalking the deer?

    Jazakallahu khayr.

I'm in the process of obtaining my hunting license and other equipment I will need. I'm also reading the regulations regarding what can and can't be done.

Regarding fluorescent clothing, I read that a beanie or any fluorescent upper-clothing is enough?

I need to buy my knives, a good pair of boots, proper clothing (they're damn expensive), and some other stuff.

I guess safety comes first ...

Yes, will be stalking and as I gain experience I'll try other techniques inshaAllah.

Are you keen on hunting again or are you done with it?

I suggest shopping for clothes on eBay USA, much cheaper.
The only reason I stayed away from hunting is because of other commitments.
Inshallah thus summer I will start going out & bring some fresh food home.
    Deer is very very nice

My only concern with online clothing is the size; depending on the cut, I need different sizes, for example, sometimes a medium is like a large so it's hard to judge.

When you're ready to go, it would be good to go together if you don't mind; you can teach me a thing or two.

That's exactly what I was planning to do, I went to Aussie Disposals to have a quick look but didn't try anything on. Are the products from USA significantly cheaper? Hunting is a big thing there so I guess it would be.

Would be excellent, I know another brother who hunts with guns so we can go as a group, inshaAllah.
