With only a couple of weeks to go before Ramadaan begins, Sister Sara (aka sonsonator on the forum) and her husband will be finalising donations raised for Feeding the Poor Fasting Muslims in Ramadan, Egypt project. I'm going to include her message below for everyone's benefit:

Mashallah, last year we raised over $40,000 and fed over 2,400 people for every single day in Ramadan, with the vast majority of recipients being widows, orphans and the disabled and elderly. This year, we aim to exceed this target, and I have no doubt that we will manage to do so. Here is video footage of our efforts from last year. Imagine watching this video, knowing that your donations was being distributed to these needy people. Imagine watching the video, and the regret you would feel at seeing the mountain of rewards, and knowing that you didn't take your share of it. Keep in mind that every single cent raised has always gone towards purchasing food. Every single person on the video offered their time and services, in the blazing heat of the Egyptian summer, for the sake of Allah alone, and not a cent of your donations went towards paying any wage or stipend, alhamdulillah, nor did it go towards any organisational costs and overheads, as my uncle and father personally organise and oversee every single step of the process!

So a reminder, inshallah, to get your donations ready. I would like to finalise all donations by the first week of July, to give the organisers in Egypt enough time to prepare everything in advance before Ramadan begins. Inshallah the cost to feed one person per day in Egypt this year will be $2.50. This is a 50c increase on last year, but reflects the rising costs of food currently in the face of the political issues in the region. I'll put up bank details as soon as my exams are finished inshallah, but if anyone has any questions in the meantime, don't hesitate to put them up here. Sisters can pm me, and brothers can contact my husband Omar Marzouk inshallah.

    Wasalaam

    Sara...
Here is the video footage from last year..

We will be collecting donations over the next few days inshaa'Allaah and transfer the funds raised to sister Sara in 2 different lots. The first lot of donations will be transferred to her on the 5th July, and the second lot will be transferred on the 10th July inshaa'Allaah.

The account details to donate into are:

    [mod: No longer collecting donations]

A reminder that this account is separate to my own personal account, and is specifically set up for donations so that nothing gets mixed up with my own personal funds.

Alhamdulillah, as posted up on the Facebook Event page, I spoke tomy uncle yesterday and he confirmed that he has been able to find suppliers that will sell us the produce we need at COST PRICE! They will forgot their profits for the sake of Allah. This means that each donation will go further than ever......your $75 will feed 2-3 people inshallah instead of 1. Alhamdulillah to the One who has placed baraka in this little endeavour of ours.

Alhumdulillaah we've raised $800 so far. I'll be making the transfer into sister Sara's account early tomorrow morning inshaa'Allaah ta'aala, before she transfers the first lot of money over.

We'll be collecting for a few more days inshaa'Allaah, so to those who haven't yet donated, you still have a chance. Don't miss out on these great rewards!

To my beloved brothers and sisters. Today I had the great honour of transferring your donations to Egypt. By the Will and Grace of Allah, alhamdulillah we raised a grand total of $42,968. This exceeds our total last year by over $2,000 and will result in more families being fed. May you all find your reward with Allah on the Day of Judgement, and may your sadaqa be a shining light for you to navigate the darkness of that Day. Inshallah any money in my account that did not clear in time will be sent on the 10th, so if anyone wanted to make direct bank deposits into the account they could do so before then. Bank transfers will no longer be accepted as they will not clear in time. Inshallah as soon as I get the footage from Egypt I will share it with you all. Jazakumillahu khayran for the trust you have placed in me, I cherish and will uphold it ♥

May Allah reward Submission and Aussiemu for their support mashallah. The final overall tally was $45,128 and this is equal to over £282,000 Egyptian pounds! This sum will feed 2,800 people for every single day in Ramadan! May Allah reward all those who gave, had the intention to give, or spread the word. And a massive jazakumillahu kayran to Aussiemuslims, who have always supported this initiative. From here on in I will now switch to my second annual program of Feeding the Poor in Ethiopia, details to be found in my thread under Special Projects.

sonsonator - may Allah (swt) accept it from you and those who assisted you in organising and executing this priceless initiative; may it weigh heavy on your scale of good deeds in the Hereafter, ameen.
O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allâh as just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is Well-Acquainted with what you do. (Al-Mā'idah: 8)
