The above suburbs are best but remember to look at surrounding suburbs near it too. For e.g. Broadmeadows has Meadow Heights, Roxburgh Park, Campbellfield, Greenvale etc. Fawkner has Glenroy and Pascoe Vale near it. When you do searches to look at places on the rental sites you can choose 'search surrounding suburbs' which will yield more results.

Australian International Academy is in Coburg. It is more expensive than the other schools from what I know and is academically probably one of the best. Not too sure how well they do Islamically but it is a Muslim school. Coburg areas are fairly expensive to live in so most people are usually living further north that attend there. They do have school buses as well (at a cost).

Ilim College is in Dallas (near Broadmeadows). Has a good reputation. Is a bit Turkish based but nowadays many non-Turks there. I have family that go there and am applying for my daughter who starts prep next year insha'Allah there as I live in Meadow Heights.

Darul Ulum is in Fawkner. Is a tablighi based school. Has a strong Quran hifdh stream if you put your child in it. I have heard that academically it is not that great in the later years.

As-Siraat is in Epping. It has shorter hours compared to other schools. Is a fairly new school so still finding its way.

At-Taqwa is in Werribee. Not sure how well they do academically. A few of the people on here are ex students so maybe they can comment.

Islamic College of Melbourne is a new school in Tarneit (next to Werribee). My husband works there and seems to think it is okay. still a new school so doesn't have the resources that the older established schools have.

East Preston is in Preston. Doesn't have a very good reputation.

Hope that helps insha'Allah. Personally I think the Northern suburbs is probably preferable area for you. There are a few school options and there are a number of schools and Islamic centers nearby. Lots of halal shops, restaurants etc and not that far from everything.

I wouldn't choose Werribee. If you were going to look into suburbs in the west, I would look at houses in Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina or Williams Landing. There are two masjids, two Islamic schools and various halal food outlets and shopping places. For value for money it is good.
But if you are after a great Islamic community, I think the northern suburbs is better (Broadmeadows area) as there are more Islamic classes in that area.

I was going to mention Isik but left them out in the end. I don't think they consider themselves an Islamic school? unless i'm mistaken. I don't know much about them though I've heard they are good academically generally. I think it is a predominantly Turkish school?

Isik don't consider themselves an Islamic school but there are Islamic studies classes run by good intentioned volunteers outside class hours. They are excellent academically and do separate between girls and boys.

    one more question
is there any geographic restriction for islamic schools
e.g. if i am going to live in western suburbs would they accept my kids at Epping or Broadmeadows schools and vise versa
if i live in northern suburbs is it ok to register them at AIA or Tarniet school.

    thank you

nope there is no location restrictions. however many of the schools such as Ilim and AIA have an interview process you have to go through to get your child in as they have more applicants than spaces. I heard Ilim got double the amount of application as spaces. So if you are moving and wanting to enrol your child it is worth looking at the application cut off dates the year before so you don't miss out.

If you live in Northern suburbs you wouldn't be sending your child to western suburb schools and vice versa. It's too far for an everyday school scenario.

you would definitely want to live close to the school you are sending your kids especially if you are driving them to school and home each day.
they can catch a bus but would often need to leave early and get home late.

I live in hoppers crossing and am currently doing my final round of placement at Altaqwa college. I went there in high school too. Best area to live in western suburbs because of the schools, mosque, and people.

I don't know about primary, but secondary enrolments are almost full for next year. It's an established school. They've come along way from when I was there
