Support for New Reverts

Assalamu alaikum Brothers and Sisters,
I was recently contacted by a sister who is new to Islam looking for some assistance with Islam. She wanted to know how to Pray and everything was new to her. She had taken her Shahada one year before and had not had any support.
It occurred to me that I knew how she felt as my story was similar.
I remember when I read lots of information about Islam online and read books and then I felt that Islam was what I had been searching for. I called the local Masjid and contacted a sister. she then had her husband call me and he asked me to come over to the house. That evening I took the Shahada and that was where it ended. I was told that if I ever needed anything to contact them. After many failed phone calls I was left on my own to find support.
Islam was very LONELY for me during this time as I was finding my own way on the internet and again reading books and contacting other Masjid's in my city. Some Masjid's didn't even return my messages.
Alhamdulilah I found a sister on the southside of where I was living and she was my guardian angel and I would be forever greatful for her and her amazing family for taking me into their heart and home and showing me how to pray, and giving me lots of support. Although the drive was over an hour for me to reach her.
I live in Brisbane and here I have found most of the muslim community live on the Southside, whilst the North is not as big and it is spread out. There just does not seem to be any support on the Northside of Brisbane or lack there of. I would like to get the word out there to new reverts and build a support network for our new brothers and sisters of where they can go for guidance and assistance, to make contact to help them on their new journey to Islam. I feel that I need to do something, Insh'Allah!
If anyone here can add anything in the Queensland area that would be fabulous. I know in Melbourne and Sydney the support is fantastic, Alhamdulilah.

Welcome to Islam, may Allah keep you steadfast and upon the correct path. It is truly a beautiful journey, Allhamdulillah ( I am revert myself).
My sister in laws have started a new initiative on the north side of Brisbane check it out: http://www.facebook.com/NorthsideDawahRevival . They have weekly halaqas, quran, arabic and tajweed classes, as well as sporting and other social events for sisters on the north side of Brisbane (attendees from other areas also come= not exclusively to northsiders alone). There are a few reverts, as well as others that attend and there is a real nice vibe to their gatherings, allhamdulillah. You can contact them via their facebook page or on 0416 807 298.

salaams Mishel,
funny you mention this site. Just 2 days ago a sister from the southside told me about this group and I liked the page only yesterday, Alhamdulilah. I am a little scared to attend on my own not knowing anyone and looking out of place. However, I will see if a sister I know can come along with me, Insh'Allah.
