Assalaamu Alaykum wa rahmitullah wa barakatu, my beloved sisters and brothers,

Having finalized the donations for our annual Feed the Poor in Egypt project for this Ramadan (we raised over $45,000) we now shift our energy and attention to our Feed the Poor in Ethiopia project. Last year we raised over $12,000 that went towards supplying hundreds of families with supplies of flour to make their staple dish of injarra, a flatbread that forms the bulk of the Ethiopian diet. It is eaten plain, as most families cannot afford condiments to dip the injarra into. In addition, we were able to provide dozens of sheep and several large cows, the meat of which was distributed to people for whom meat is an absolute luxury.

As always, 100% of donations will be spent on food/supplies, as everyone working on all our projects does so on an unpaid volunteer basis, seeking the reward only from Allah. My beloved sister Zulfa and her family work tirelessly to organize things on the ground for us in Ethiopia and have done so successfully for the past 2 years. The collection will be ongoing throughout Ramadan, and the first amounts will be sent on Monday the 23rd of July.

Here is video footage of our efforts last year.

As you will see in the video, this is an extremely easy way to earn the Pleasure of Allah, and also get the reward of feeding needy fasting Muslims during this Blessed month.

There will be no minimum donation amount set. For your reference, however, feeding an entire large family with the staple of injarra for the month would cost approximately $100. Those wanting to fund a complete iftaar for several families, with meat included, can contact me for further details inshallah.

Inshallah I hope to share further footage from this year with you all on the conclusion of Ramadan

    Assalaamu Alaykum,

Just spoke to sister Zulfa in order to ascertain the exact price for those wanting to donate for expiation/missed fasts. She has informed me that it will cost a mere $70 to finance an iftaar that will feed over 50 poor people. The meal will include an entire cooked sheep, injarra (flatbread) and drinks, and will be hosted at the masjid for the poor, homeless and destitute. For those wanting to pay for such an iftaar you MUST specify EXPIATION in the deposit description inshallah.

For those who do not have to make expiation, your donation will be channeled towards the provision of raw flour/meat for poor families to cook in the privacy of their own homes inshallah.

    Jazakumillahu khayran ♥
