Maa'ShaaAllahu Tabaraka waTa'ala.
Bro, if you were patient through all these afflictions, inshaa'Allah there is a big place in Jannah waiting for you.
When a trial like this occurs, it becomes obvious that Allah has specifically chosen you amongst all others to bless with goodness in the hereafter. Don't let it all slip away, live the life of a mu'min and die as a shaheed Inshaa'Allah.
A quick story-
The most well-off and comfortable man in this life (The dunya) will be brought in front of Allah, and he will be one of the people of Jahannam. Allah will command for the Angels to dip him into the hellfire, just to be put in for only a moment. When this happens, he will be asked after his brief stay in Jahannam whether or not he remembers any of the joys or comfortabilities of his life. He will respond 'No', he will not remember anything good of his life, as the torment of the hellfire will be so great that it will haunt him so much he will remember only it.
Then the most uncomfortable man of the world, the one who was always sick, abused by others and struggled through life will be brought before Allah. He will be a person of Jannah. He will be ordered to be placed by the Angels in Jannah for just a breif moment. After this he will be asked if he remembers having suffered any hardship. He will respond 'No, by Allah I don't'. The sweetness of Jannah will be so great, that he will forget everyting that ever happened to him in this world, and he will know only of the Mercy of Allah and the greatness of Jannah awaiting us all Inshaa'Allah.

Br Muhammad, I have noticed quite a change in your 'personality' on the forum. You used to be so serious but lately you're joking quite a bit....even with sisters!! Are you feeling OK? Is it you?
Br Khaled, Subhana'Allah can't that game be banned somehow? Isn't there something we can do? If there was a game in the Mid East where Muslims can go around killing Jews the whole world would kick up a big stink!

Yeh, my mum LOVES The Wizard of Oz, I used to love it too until my little brothers began to watch it EVERY day after kindergarten, it started to get a bit annoying.
Did you ever watch the sequels? Or the Wizard of Oz cartoon? I loved the cartoon, I tried finding it on DVD but haven't been able to. If anyone has it don't worry, I don't want it anymore.
You know Tumsa and all the Oromos?? Or you know my wife's family?
If you know Tumsa then you'll understand how me and my friends were.
If you know Irko then you might know where he is...
Heheh, I miss all the Oromo community, it was fun knowing them all, they are so generous and cook the nicest foods.

Jazaakillah khairan for the naseehah sister. I have made an effort to be less grumpy on the forum but obviously I have gone the wrong way about it. Free-mixing, let alone joking is a big 'No-No' so we all have to be very careful. May Allah forgive us all.

Inshaa'Allah he does... He was a great brother when I first met him. I feel so bad for his aunty...I seen Irko a few months back inFootscray, InshaÁllah one day he comes back to Islam...
Tumsa's parents are really good, I love his mother's food. She made 1 dish, it was several layers of Injerra with a sauce mixed in with it, and I think some berbere as well, that was beautiful.
And anything with wet/wot/wat I dunno how to write it, everything else I had nicknames for it, there was 1 food I just called 'the green', and there was the 'white soup', and the infamous 'meat stuff'.
I used to eat heaps at my Amhara friends house when I was Christian, and they had realy good food as well. There was 1 special meat they would make, they'd let it dry for a few weeks and add lots of seasonings, we called that 'special meat', and the raw meat that you dip in chilli was nice as well.
But my favourite dish by far is a Gurage specialty, where raw meat is minced up and mixed with chilli powders. I loved it.
Maybe were freaking the others out with all this talk of raw meat, but then again Oromo don't really have it either, maybe I'm freaking everyone out!Last edited by MusaBanned; 10-Aug-2005 at 10:09 AM.

SubhaanAllah, I have a sudden craving for Ethiopian food, I think I might take my wife to Footscray for dinner tonight...
I love the samboosas as well, especially in Ramadaan. I can't recall what cakka is, but if I had it I'm sure I liked it, all the food is good.
My wife had her ultrasound last week and she found out she is having a girl al-hamdulillah. She's due in December Inshaa'Allah.
Anyway, this should go in the food section, not the 'how you reverted' thread!

As-salaal alaikum
I wanted to post something a revert brother wrote just a few weeks before he passed away. He wanted people to know how choosing Islam had changed his life for the better and what his life was like before embracing Islam. This is the letter:
"Since about the age of 7 I have suffered badly with nightmares, sleep walking, severe headaches and panic attacks. Up to about the age of 15yrs old, I was reffered to a psychiatrist. But all they could do was prescribe me with tablets and liquid medication, And not getting down to the root of the problem, which was my spiritual side.. I did not know good from bad and even right from wrong.
At about the age of 17 yrs old, I suffered a nervous breakdown resulting in me taking sleeping pills overdose for which I was in intensive care at the then named Crumpsall Hospital for 3 days.
After my recovery, I was taken onto the Psychiatric ward for about 8 weeks. Once again I was given lots of medication, but the root of the problem was never found. Even at the hospital I was allowed to go out and I used to large packets of paracetamol and walk around the streets swallowing them down with a can of coke. I used to dream of different ways of suicide. My mind, my spirit were so mixed up. Yet once again, the doctors could not help me.
I was given shock treatment for depression, I even remember waking up when they were just about to shock me (before they do that they give you a paraliser to stop your body from convulsing). Ever since that time in my life, I have been afraid of hospitals or anywhere surgical. What I'm trying to say is, instead of getting to the problem they would give me shock therapy and mentally scare me.
They used to have long consultations with me. The Doctors could never understand why I wanted to take my own life. In my mind at that time I had nothing to live for. I had friends around me, but I was so depressed at that time, I did not know where I was.
The years that followed up to the age of 21 yrs old, I had overdosed and slashed my wrists. I was living my daily life like any other person, but inside I was depressed and fearful and did not know who to turn to.
On my 21st Birthday, the night before I took a large overdose, I remember offering cake to the patients on the ward. Sometimes I think about it, your 21st birthday is supposed to be a celebration, I feel so sad when I think about that day.
Now I'm 55 yrs old, and I don't feel suicidal or depressed anymore. I have found the root of my problem. I have found Allah, who keeps me going. He keeps me safe, and I have found peace at last. Its been 9 months since I accepted Islam and if I died tommorow, I will not die troubled. I will die in peace knowing I died a muslim."

Mmm, I like that offer of more African food, tayyib. You can talk to my wife or I'll speak to your husband and we'll organise something for Ramadaan Inshaa'Allah. You can make Eretrian food and I'll make my special Morrocan dishes! (Neither me or my wife are Morrocan, but we love the food) or maybe even some Italian food.
And I'll invite myself over to Tumsa's house a few times in Ramadaan, I miss his mum's food...
Any Indians here? I love Indian food, can you invite me over to your house this Ramadaan as well??
Heheh, I'm not being greedy, just trying to give you all a chance to gain extra hasanaat during Ramadaan!
-To keep on the topic, Ramadaan and feasting on nice meals reminds me of when I reverted, food played an important part of my reversion. I guess Judaism was never really an option for me realistically as their food isn't really anything special, and Chinese food lacks that special something that the food from Muslims has...
Spices, flavours, lots of meat, kebabs...lol!
Sometimes culture is a great form of Da'wah believe it or not!
Oh yeh, and Bosnians make beautiful Pita/Borek, gotta love that too.

InshaÁllah Sister, i would love to meet you to ...
I dont cook Eritrean food i cook Oromo food... I am sure she would love youto visit, she actually told my dhabout you ages ago and he knows who you are...
I agree the food and how the women serve was a form of Dawah!!!! MashaÁllah i use to be so amazed at how good they were with their husbands and family, so loving and so connected... MashaÁllah...
Actually, this was one of my worries that as a Woman i wouldnt be able top be as good as a Muslim woman, i mean looking at Muslim women to lets say a typical Aussie.. They are so different.. Alhumdulilah, Allah gives what he wills!!!
