The ones u mentioned are two of my favourites. There is also Ibrahim Al-Jibreen, masha'Allah he's also in my top 10.
Here's one of his recitations : http://quran.islamway.com/jibreen/088.mp3
Oh yeah, I can't forget Ahmad Al-Ajmi!When my heart became constricted and my paths became narrow - I took my hope in Your pardon and forgiveness as an opening and an escape - My sins seemed very great to me but when I compared them to Your forgiveness My Lord, I found Your forgiveness to be greater. - Imam al-Shafi'e (Rahimahullah)

Br Mishary Rashed al-Efasy
Here is his page - http://english.islamway.com/bindex.p...recitor_id=175
Here is Surah Al-Fajr http://quran.islamway.com/mishary1424/089.mp3
Here is Saurah Al-Qadr http://quran.islamway.com/mishary1424/097.mp3
In each one of his recitations he uses a different style. MashaAllah, he has been given an extraordinary voice.
May Allah bless the hardworking brothers and sisters at IslamWay for giving us the opportunity to listen to the many lectures, recitations and watch video lectures from the comfort of our own home. Truely a beautiful site MashaAllah.

Some Qaris recite particular surahs so beautifully that it touches the heart...
I love Mishari Rashid's Surah Yusuf and Mu'minoon.
Also Salaah Bukhaatir is awesome. Masha Allaah I love him when he leads the Taraweeyah.

Salaah Bukhaatir is from Saudi. Allahu alam.
However, he comes to Sharjah, UAE for Ramadan and it was last year I visited the masjid where he led the Taraweeyah.

alhamdulillah i also love the recitations of the above mentioned qaris as well; sa'd al-ghamidi (listen to suratul isra among others) al-afasy (suratu taha among others), al-ajami (suratul-haqqa among others). If you're in the middle-east, the satellite arabsat 2b (30.5 Deg East) broadcasts quran recitation 24/7 on the al-majd holy quran channel; highly recommended.
however, i wanted to point it one area of concern, and that is to do with the primary purpose of the revelation:
Allah (s.w.t) mentions in His book which means:
14:1 Alif Lam Ra, a Book which We have revealed unto thee, in order that thou mightest lead mankind out of the depths of darkness into light - by the leave of their Lord - to the Way of (Him) the Exalted in power, worthy of all praise!-
"minaz-zulumaatu ilannur"
the qur'an has many uses, listening to it is highly soothing, and there is shifa in it and it is used for other reasons as well; however it was revealed to be implemented so that we may see the light after being blinded in darkness, let's not digress from the main purpose of the revelation. This advice isn't directed at anybody in general, it is a reminder more so for myself than for anybody else.
Allahu (s.w.t) alone knows best."So do not become weak, nor be sad, and you will be superior if you are indeed mu'mineen." [El-'imran:139]
"Those unto whom men said: Lo! the people have gathered against you, therefore fear them. But it only increased them in faith and they cried.. Allah is sufficient for us! Most Excellent is He in Whom we trust! [El-Imran: 173-174]
" and He made the word of those who disbelieved the lowermost, while the Word of Allah is the uppermost; and Allah is 'Azeez, Hakeem!" [Et-'tawbah:40]

Jazakallahu Khair brother for the reminder. For me, Alhamdulillah instead of playing music on my computer or in my car, I put on some Quran recitation. This is very soothing Alhamdulillah and prevents me listening to the haram. But of course, as you mentioned, the Quran has been given to us for an even greater purpose.
Also, hearing the recitation of the Quran helps me memoris Surahs. I find that reading and listening at the same time can be of great benefit InshaAllah. When I am feeling upset, I listen/read the Quran and Alhamdulillah immediately forget the troubles of the world. SubhanAllah, it is truely a Miracle this Quran.Last edited by Khaled; 21-Sep-2005 at 05:45 PM.

let me point out one other thing inshaAllah, again this is general advice which i'm in need of more than anybody else; continuing on from my previous post
"minaz-zulumaatu ilannur"
note the arabic used and the hikma of Allah (s.w.t);
a literal translation would be:
from the darknesses (plural) to the light (singular).
I think this is pretty self explanatory but if one needed to expand on it, then it should be clear that there is more than one darkness, more than one road that will lead us to al-jahannam, but there is only one light, the guidance of Allah (s.w.t), siratal-mustaqeem, one straight road, the road tread by rasulullah (s.a.w) and his companions.
We really ought to sit down and study the quran and understand it's message. Sometimes i think we've gotten our priorities wrong, we tend to place more emphasis on different sciences of islam (also very important, please don't misunderstand) but we don't take the time out to study the main source of Islam, kelaamullah, al-quran al-kareem. Again, i'm in need of this advice more than anybody else."So do not become weak, nor be sad, and you will be superior if you are indeed mu'mineen." [El-'imran:139]

Subhan Allaah this is what was exaclty on my mind, but i decided this is not the place to discuss it and you mentioned it alhamdulillah.

Yes, I know i am guily of having my favourite qaris and loving them for their recitation but true that it helps me memorize the surahs, other wise not knowing Arabic can seriously distract us from the continous listening..

I love Abu Hajr Al-Iraqi recitation, I think Islamway only has one recitation by him. Surat al-Imran, I also have Al-Anfal, and used to have At-Towba.
